Fit won't play CD of MP3s

We've read through the manuals, but can't find a solution to this problem: my husband made a CD of MP3 songs on his computer, but they won't play in the Fit's audio system. The terminal shows that the CD is playing, but there is no sound. We know that Fit system will not play CDs made with the "AAC" advanced compression system (or whatever it's called), and so we used plain old Mp3 technology. The CD plays on my husband's PC, on my Mac, but not on the Fit's audio system. Ideas?

There are many different variables to consider here - but this is what I would suggest:

First, a question: So you burned a few MP3's onto the disk, do you see more than one track when the CD is loaded in the Fit?
  • Be sure you are burning these in the correct format; ie. be sure to select "Finalize Disk", we don't want a multisession disk.
  • Be sure your audio files are not copy protected or otherwise altered (by your MP3 software on the computer).
  • Try using a different brand of recordable disk. For instance, if you are using a CD-RW (rewritable disk), try using a regular CD-R. While your at it, try a different brand as well.
  • Select a different batch of MP3's to burn, something you've had a while and know they work.
  • Try burning the CD from an alternate computer, or download an alternate CD burning prgram (free) here: CDBurnerXP: Downloads

i had this problem too, when i was making my own disc, found out that it needs to be burned as "data disc" format. look somewhere in the options. that should help you dont have to convert the songs or anything, as long as they are mp3 format. also, doing this, you can burn like 50 or 80 songs to the disc

Psh, back in the day when I though 128 kbps was good I could fit nearly 180 songs on a disc. Now I rip at 192 and it's only good for 140 or so.

I've had problems with an mp3 disc that doesn't have both iso9660 and joliet titles, so make sure to give it both. That was my old mp3 car player though. The Fit seems to tolerate just about any mp3 disc I use as long as it's not on a CD-RW.

Gotta figure out why imgburn cut off all my filenames to 8 characters though.

Danke to everyone! reako wins the prize for the answer that works! My husband has dubbed the software you recommended "The Fit Burn CD burn sofware" on his computer. cab0053 asked what kind of fit -- it's a base Fit.

That's great news! I'm glad the software helped you. CDBurnerXP gets kudos as well, I just donated some cash to them.

Great pics...thanks for sharing. Enjoy your new Fit!

I had the same problem, the Fit CD player played the MP3 just fine, just no sound. I downloaded Reako's recommended CD burner and now they play just fine, sound and all. Thanks, Reako!
