I would recommend you get it done now. I did my first oil change at 5,000 miles @ 50% oil life.

9,300 miles is too long for the very first oil change in my opinion.

well we all have a warranty... there's nothing wrong with following what the manual says.. as long as you keep an eye on the oil level. if something goes wrong, have honda fix it.

Did my first slightly after 5K and did my second today at 11.5K (was a little late, but the trip I just finished was long).

I don't care what the MM says, (it was at 50% btw), I'm changing oil and rotating tires every 5K (give or take)

just follow the meter. my 09 is at 50% and 5k+ miles...so that'll probably go into 10K before the first oil change.

i likes.

I'm at 4,200 miles and the MM is at 60%. It appears to be dropping 10% every thousand miles. So I figure around 9,000 miles I'll be good for a change. Modern car engines and modern oil chemistry have made it so cars can go a very long time inbetween oil changes. The 3,000 mile oil change myth was started by Jiffy Lube. It's much better business to bring your car in every 3K miles rather than 10K regardless of whether you need it or not. Not only is that causing unnecessary harm to the environment, it's causing unnecessary harm to your wallet too.

I will begin using Mobile One 5W-20 Extended Performance and will continue to follow the MM for oil changes. I was told by Honda customer service that a special blend is put in the car from the factory that helps with the engine break-in. I was skeptical of this claim but Honda engineering confirmed it is a special blend, not just dino oil and that is why it's emphasized in the engine break-in section of the user manual to leave the oil in until the MM says to change it. So that's what I'm going to do.

My Holly got her first oil change and tire rotation today. Mileage was at 6200 and oil life was at 50%. I'll probably wait a little bit longer between the next ones. I just wanted to get it done since I've had it for 9 months and it still hadn't been changed.

I was going to say something like this is why I don't buy used cars... but honestly, I had a CRX with 206,000 miles on it and still running very strong. It's going to take a lot of abuse to hurt your Honda.
