Honda Fit Vacation Road Trip!!! (I can't believe it all fit!)
Well, I've had my Fit since October, and barely had over 4000 miles on it. That all changed when I took it on vacation to Jekyll Island, GA this past week. The entire drive was about 1500 miles round trip, and the Fit made every bit of driving wonderful. The only problem I had was the stupid AC button cutting on and off (see other thread). The navigation worked wonderfully, and basically paid for itself on this one trip alone. Finding waypoints on our route was so easy, and even the wife loved using the navi. Even though we were packed full of stuff (my parents even brought us stuff to take since they couldn't fit it all in their Prius), she still managed about 36MPG and we were well over the weight recommendation from Honda. We had two large suitcases, one small suitcase, one duffel bag, one towel bag, 4 pillows, one camera bag (and tripod), one computer bag, one large cooler filled with food, beer, and ice, another case of beer (Bell's Oberon, mmm), two boxes of food for the week, one large pot for boiling shrimp/crabs, one fishing rod, and 3 sets of golf clubs. It was like playing tetris getting everything to fit while still being able to see out the back, but the Fit handled it great, and I even had room to pick up a case of Yuengling on the way home! Here's the pics:

Nicely done, way to put the Fit to good use! Fit travel pics are always welcome. I should have a few pics uploaded for my camping thread soon https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...g-edition.html. I ended up getting a hitch and cargo rack since I had a third passenger (plus their gear). Without the third passenger - looks like you can really pack it in there!

Wow! Hard to believe you can get that all in. I can't wait for my vacation trip; it's coming up the week before Labor Day. I'll be driving from Springfield, IL to Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN, actually--Mall of America) by way of Wisconsin Dells on the way up and Cedar Rapids, IA on the way back. It should be about 1,200 miles round trip (plus driving around at the destinations). I don't think my Fit will be quite that loaded, but it's nice to know I'd have the room if I need it. (Actually, since my friend plans to spend most of his time at the Lego store at MOA, I might need that extra space on the way home! You wouldn't believe the amount of Legos he can buy at one time!)
