Update: I had the part replaced, however with minutes, it burnt out again and actually smelled like electrical short on high setting "4". Now waiting to have the whole thing looked after again once the parts are in.
It's getting hot!!!

I really don't understand why Honda are still using the same switch for the 2009-2011 Honda Fit if the switch is getting hot and break inside. Here in Puerto Rico the weather is Hot and i must use the A/C a lot.I think that this issue must be a recall to fix this problem. This is not normal.

Agree, I think it should be a recall on this.
This will be my 3rd time in the shop for a 2009 Fit for the same problem. That put a serious dent in my confidence of Honda quality (after multiple times in the shop for a failed transmission on the 2002 Ody that was eventually dealt with as a recall and new transmission design)

Three times with the bad A/C switch problem .I can not believe it.Is time that Honda must fix this.We are talking about 3 years of the Fit with this problem and they did not have fix it right yet!!!This will be for sure a nightmare movie for ALL Fit 2009-2011 owners. I'm asking myself....How many cases with this problem had Honda in record.....They are playing the blind game.....Looks that they don't want to see.

Man what a pain! I think if this happened to me I'd just buy a new switch. Going on a long road trip in Aug. Thinking about getting a spare for piece of mind. $12.43 from Majestic Honda.

Really got myself worked up over this today even though I've never had a problem with the switch. Have a 12 hr drive coming up so I wanted to see what it takes to replace the switch just in case.

Pretty involved proceedure but now that I've done it it doesn't seem so hard. Only 2 screws but lots of "careful" prying to get to the switch.

Not much to it but there is only a small metal wire that engages a piece of plastic to hold the switch in the "on" posistion.

Not sure what the real failure mode is here but the only heat related thing would be if the plastic housing would melt and no longer allow the switch to stay on.

Here is the switch and the switch dis-assembled.
