Canadian car of the year is...
Motoring 2009 just aired it's 2009 car of the year episode and the winner was... the Fit (you probably guessed that by now ).
MotoringTV.com :: The show about cars, and the people who drive them!
It beat out cars like the Hyundai Genesis and the Corvette ZR1. Woot!

Wow. Ok fellow Fitsters....drive your car with pride and tap yourself on the shoulders for buying the Canadian Car of the Year!
Thanks Scaldy for sharing the great news! BTW, nice meeting you at AJs.

Being a cynical bastard as well as a proponent of books by another cynical bastard (one Phil Edmundston, authour of Lemon Aid), I don't put much stock in surveys by most auto journalists, including those who did this particular survey.
I do believe Phil when he says that too many of these journalists are on the take and are in the pockets of the manufacturers. Listening to that one host making excuses for the domestic manufacturers while blaming the feds for their woes (and ignoring the fact that for years the big three have been selling swill and calling it champagne) only served to reinforce these convictions.
But having said that, they picked the right car this time. If I didn't believe that I never would have bought one, and even cynical old Phil gives the Fit top marks.
