GD springs in a GE

It was brought to my attention today that GD springs may fit in the GE and lower the car about 20mm.

I know it does not seem like a lot, but it would be perfect for anyone wanting just a slight drop because of body kit or bad roads.

I quess if the top and bottom coils and the K are the same they should be OK. It would then be up to the length of the spring.

Has anyone tried this or have access to compare the GD & GE springs.

If this is true, this would be perfect for me. I don't want to use non-OE stuff, because it will put me into a modified class in autocross.

Cool GD Springs in a GE

Lek, if you get to swap your OEM GE springs with those from the GD...let us know how the car handles after the mod.

Just a word of caution: make sure the person who is installing the springs knows what he is doing and make sure there is no binding in any way.
Suggest you do not cut the bump stops.
Will be waiting for the photos and your write-up.

Keep in mind that Honda used the same springs on the civic from 1988 to 2000. It's not that far-fetched that they'd do it again.

They didn't, the spring rates are totally different, GD springs on a GE will make the rear sag and bottom out constantly.

I know that the GE has more weight on the front that's why Honda recommends 33 psi in front tires.

Actually, the rear of the GE is higher than the front. I wish there was a way to reduce the rear springs only by 10mm, this would balance the car out and make it look much better.

The Mugen Suspension kit lowers only 20mm and desined to go with their body kits, but hard to find in any country apart from Japan.

Thanks teamfit, So the top and bottom of the coils must be the same size if they installed OK.

Is there any bounce or noise on the front end.

So, what did you do with the rear. If you didn't change them, too, the car must be very high on the rear.

Lek I think he is saying he has heavy speakers and amps in the rear with the weight of that bringing it down

I have just been looking at the Tanabe DF spring Rates and the GD F 3.1 / R 4.9, but the GE F 1.7 / R 2.0. Why such a massive difference in spring rates between the GD & GE?

That should means stock springs should have the same percentage spring rate difference as Tanabe make their springs slightly above stock.

In theory, GD springs will lower the front of the GE 25mm with a stiffer spring rates which should give a better ride with less sway and body roll.
