New Fit, and I bought an aftermarket center console

I just bought a 2009 Fit Sport A/T. Put tint all the way around, and i just bought a center console on ebay. I'm not too sure about this one though. It's pretty solid, but it doesn't have anything to hold it down (bolts) like the honda one. Tell me what you think. I'm thinking of selling it if I don't end up liking it, putting the money towards the OEM one.

PS: first time posting, so I hope it works

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations for owning a new GE8 FiT.

Here's a photo of an OEM armrest and personally, it is worth the extra $. Quality, workmanship and fitment is top notch. Maybe you should consider switching to the OEM armrest.

I got it on ebay. It looked nice in pictures, and honestly, it's stiched together really well with quality leather, I just like the OEM one better. It was kind of an accident I bought it in the first place. On the 'make an offer' button, i put in $30 less than he was asking. Didn't really think he would go for it, but I liked it at the time. Oh well.

Does it really slide back and forth? Can you put a pic up of it if it does?

Yes it does slide back and forth. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. Granted it's not cheap but quality and workmanship is excellent. Only took about 40 minutes to install. If someone else doesn't post any by tomorrow I'll take a couple of pics in the morning with the arm rest slid forward and back.

Are you still in the Navy. Noticed your user ID and wasn't sure. What does the AC stand for. Aircrewman or Air Traffic Controller. I retired 5 years ago after 21 years in the Navy.

Yes, aboard the USS Peleliu. AC stands for Air Traffic Controller. I couldn't think of a better job right now with the way the economy is at the moment. Been in since 2003 and I just reenlisted last july. Be in until 2013!

I drove around alot tonight with the new armrest in and I really like it but I really want the honda one. Having some more storage place is nice but the armrest I have is just a tad short. Probably would be alot better if I wasn't so short, I have to have the seat so far up! The padding on top is nice and the ability to slide it out of the way real quick leaves the 2 cupholders underneath like a secret cubby spot.

Pfft tint laws. Ive had 15% or less on all my windows on all my cars and have never once been ticketed for it.

Congratulations on the new Fit, not so much on the new armrest. I like the size of it as far as storage goes, but it looks too low to be functional.
Per your description, the stitching may be good, but overall the look is far from OEM. The folds are way crooked and irregularly padded. The Zeta product looks better than that, and it's around $60 less expensive than OEM.

Truth is, right now OEM is the real deal. You spent a bunch of money on a car that should have had an OEM armrest to begin with, and it didn't. Take the hit (I hope you didn't pay more than $80 delivered), forget Zeta as well (the delivered price is too close to OEM to justify), and buy the Honda armrest off Bernardi or College hills.

Photo OEM Armrest

As promised, here's a photo of the OEM armrest extended.

Navy AC, being only 65" tall myself, I set the driver seat 2 notches aft of forward position too, but my right elbow rests on extended armrest comfortably.

Two thumbs up for the Honda armrest; very satisfied with it.

Same height as me. I like the way it slides. It's decided, I'm going to buy the OEM one. Stupid Honda should have put them in the car in the first place though IMO.

I know the tint laws. Thing is, it's a fix it ticket. Just peel the stuff off the front windows, get the ticket signed and then pay $80 for them to put it back on. Took them less than 30 minutes last time and it makes the car so much more comfortable on my 140 mile commute. It's well worth the chance of some bull***t fix it ticket.

I here that, I bet you got a nice SRB for reenlisting for that time frame. I work at the FAA and I know that they will be hiring a bunch of controllers over the next 4-8 years as there will be a bunch of retirements. Are you ships company and where are you homeported at.

Is that OEM armrest available for the 08 Fits? Is that what I have seen called JDM armrest?

And to the OP, nice looking car. The tint really looks good on that color!
