Honda Fit Hybrid - Speculation thread

I sat in an Insight the other day.....much tighter inside than the Fit. Definitely not a Fit substitute to me.

considering they have the insight, i doubt honda would release a hybrid Fit.
the batt eats up too much space, probably.

I was told by 2 Honda dealers here in Canada 2012 - 2015.
I've read speculation online that says 2010 - 2015.
I didn't know what to believe, and my 1998 Civic SI Manual Silver/Grey was falling apart...
...so I traded in my Civic for a 2009 Fit Sport Manual Black/Black earlier this month. Very happy with it.

There are rumors of a joint venture between Honda and Yuasa (battery company) to mass-produce the new Lithium ion packs for use in the new Civic Hybrid and Fit Hybrid.
Lithium ion batteries have many advantages:
It seems that a hybrid Fit is a definite probability, especially to compete with Toyota's ambitious plans to create a new hybrid of almost every one of their models, including the Yaris.

I honestly don't see the need for a Fit Hybrid... or even the insight.
I can get over 40 mpg (just got 44 mpg last weekend) on the hwy and 35 in the city.
Yes a hybrid can get maybe a little higher but by the time you figure in the ~$4000 price jump and maintenance on a hybrid it doesn't really make sense to me. Plus the fact I can still do 90% of my own work on my own car makes me all warm inside I know I can't do that with a hybrid.
Just my 2 cents..but I am more that happy with my sportier/ more practical / more versatile / gas sipping car.
Hybrids are just bandaids..not the answer to our dependence to foreign oil.
Now the FCX Clarity is a different discussion
