yah, before you put the masking tape on the carpet, i suggest lessening the adhesivity on the tape by picking up dust on your seats first. otherwise the ahesive could potentially separate and stick to your carpet when left for a prolonged time. since it's cold outside in the winter, i doubt it, but just as a precaution. that's what i will be doing too.


yah, rain sucks. sorry to hear. i recommend this product when such thing happens so that you dnt have to re-wash the car all over again with a hose. this product has super lubricity vs quickdetailer so it will prevent swirls if used correctly with plush microfiber towels. i buy this stuff by the gallons.

for me, another beautiful autumn day here so back up the GE out of the way to pull out my G.

 

Went 180km in total for the past 2 days KL-Kajang meeting with authority for KL 2012 Nike Run, which is going to be held this Sat.

 

Like me, in a way. I backed up my GE to get out of the way to pull out my 212-5 because it was a fairly nice day.

Truth be told, I'd rather drive the Fit than the 212-5; it's quieter, more comfortable, quicker, and gets better milage. Unfortunately, it doesn't make the grass shorter.

 

28,000 on the 2012. Went to 0-20 Amsoil Signature blend and Amsoil in the gearbox also.

 

What did I do?

I got a Viper Smart Start system installed. The only issue.... my only compatible device is an iPod Touch!! I have a "dumb phone," and while my Xoom has Android, the software isn't compatible for some reason. Maybe, in May, I'll get a smarter phone.

Estimated install time: 5.5 hours
Actual time: 7.5 hours

Tech told me he had to redo one because the brain was bad... another, because it didn't work with a manual trans.

I ended up late for work. No, I couldn't just drop it off, because I need my car to do deliveries.

 

Finally figured out how to get to the gauge cluster (I was trying to get the steering wheel off, but ended up figuring that out instead! Thankfully, I have the service manual coming, so I will figure out the steering wheel with that!) so I painted the gauge rings and shift knob cover.



I also got around to painting the H badges. Don't forget to mask!





and here they are finished. (better sunlit pictures eventually!)

I painted those fairly late last night, and wanted to wait for the paint to harden before installing them. The stuff stays soft and esilly scratchable for a while.

 

white pasti-dip would've been much easier to do, cause you just mask a general area and spray... then peel back where you dont want the product on the rest of the car.


for me, drove the GE to work. my G is taking a nap until next week.

 

Today, I drove it to work and back, then reinstalled the gauge trim rings and cleaned the dash for a picture! (tomorrow is clean the rest of the inside!)



I eventually want to do the HVAC knobs, steering wheel trim, the H on the steering wheel (that one will be fun...) the little cap on the hand break and the door handles, all in white.

also took some better lit (though the sun didn't want to come out for me) pictures of the H's

 

Interesting look. If you're gonna paint the steering emblem, have fun. That's some serious taping. Also you can't remove it to paint it, cuz once it's off, it's off. I'd almost just recommend getting this steering emblem - GrafiXpressions - Express yourself in vinyl form!..., then getting this overlay in white - GrafiXpressions - Express yourself in vinyl form!....
