Price Quote on an 09 Fit Sport AT?
I'm in the market for a new car and have been contacting my local dealers for price quotes. A couple have gotten back to me and I've gotten prices like $16,994, $16,979, $16,980, $16,971 all of which include destination and before tax and license. Not really looking to add anything to the car. Are these good prices? If not, what price should I try to deal them down to? Thanks for the help.

Some dealers will give you quotes and then when you get there they will jack it up with markups on all the "optional" addons. Best way to avoid this is to get the OTD price (preferably via email so you have it in writing before you even get to the dealer) so you know what you are paying total.
2 weeks ago, I got a quote of $16,054 (I know, too good to be true, right?) for a Sport AT and then they marked me up with addons ($500 floor mats, nitrogen, tint, etc., it came out to $21,000 lol) when I got there. Although, I got them down to $18,500, but it didn't reflect the quote and I didn't need all that extra stuff that I could get aftermarket so I walked out, no problem with me.

Take your best quote to the other dealers and see if they can beat it. If not Walk away and they will probably come chasing. Have them email you and out the door quote an don't pay a cent more. Best I could do for our Fit sport w/ Nav was 18,700 before tax and lic. I worked with 3 different dealers in Nor*Cal and think the deal was ok. I think only wanting the Orange w/ Nav hurt me a bit.

That's what you gotta do. And you can't be shy about it. Get the bottom OTD price at one dealer and take it to the next. Tell them that so and so gave you this price, will you beat it? Adding a 3rd dealer may be time consuming but in the end it may save you some more money.
This is what I did when I bought my girl's Corolla S. I got the second dealer to beat the first dealer's price AND I got free tires for life. Can't beat that.

Effects of recession is sinking in and car sales is suffering. Dealers are now more than willing to work out a deal once they know you are buying.
Do your homework and let them know. Don't be afraid to make a reasonable offer and turn away if they refuse. You might be surprised.
In Canada, we are paying too much. Top of the line Sports Aut is C$21,790 incl. freight & PDI (about US$17,600 @ current exchange rate), but no GPS and paddle shifters. Figure that out!

Picking my Fit Sport with Auto up Friday. No other options. Price 16750.00 plus tax and tags. Got price in writing. Did all the work thru the internet. Hope price is the same when I go in to complete the transaction, just sold my 1991 Honda Accord with 225,000 miles on it. Leif

We are paying too much in Canada, but in March there was some nice rebates from Honda. $1000 if you presently owned a Honda, $500. if you bought a MT, I got a LX stick (a Canadian model) for $15500. +fr. and taxes. Also keep in mind that we pay more freight and more taxes GST + PST
Our models are a little stripped we can't even get Traction controll, no map lights, LX model has 15 inch alloys off the Civic Hybrid, no TPS, but we get a low washer fluid light, and heated mirrors.

I think we should have a thread with what people are paying for their car.
A good place to start looking at what people pay is to go to that site. It is a great site, full of information on how to avoid scams and how to get the best deal.
Honda Deals: National sampling of recent Honda purchase prices
For my previous car a Hyundai Tucson I got it 2500 under invoice for a $17,750 out the door.
I cannot tell you for the automatic, but I paid $17,723 OTD for the Fit manual '09. I sent the invoices I got from the dealers and sent the lowest I received to all of them so that they competed.
I never went to the dealer, only to pickup my new car.
