So i was thinking....(wheels)

What if i kept my stock rims, and just swtiched out a wider tire? Anyone done that? I have a 09 Fit Sport AT. Im thinking of getting some lowering springs and just paiting my stock rims along with that.

Any input?

I too have thought about painting my stock since I like the stock rim design and don't want a bigger rims since my car is my DD.

The experience I have had with painted rims though are that they do not hold up very well and are really hard to look perfect. I have painted stocks in the past and yes they look good for a while but as soon as you need a new tire don't expect them to look good anymore since the paint easily gets scuffed/chipped.

Thats a good alternative to getting another set of wheels. I was planning to do the same in a couple of years when the stock tires need to be replaced.

You can go for a 195 or 205 width tires and paint the rims bronze, gunmetal, or whatever u like and it'll look really nice.

Right now im getting a 10" sub put in discreetly in the back, so thats my first project.
I think thats a good point, wait untill i need to replace my original tires to get the rims painted. I think i will make the lowering my next mod on the list then rims. I would like a 205 tire on there, at least in the back tires. I drive the I-5 alot in SoCal and its got some grooves on my drive to work. I feel the fit shimmy back and forth alot on those road conditions.

I just put a pirelli sticker on my tire.

anyways if you get away from the oem size tires get cheaper.

keep the stock size tire or go to a lower profile with the same
width rather than increasing width of the tire on a narrow
wheel like the stockers.

it will just make the ride more swashy (ooo, new word. )
as the sidewalls will have less stretch. it will be just a blobbing
mess.

the only issue i see with going with a lower profile tire is that the speedo would be slightly off... say going from a 60 to a 50 sidewall...

A 205/50R16 tire will fit the stock wheel, will provide a wider tire, and will be the same diameter as the stock 185/55R16 tire.

a wider tire alone is not better for performance

LOL, "Swashy" could not have described it any better! I was on the Hwy yesterday and it felt like the hand of God was rocking me back and forth! I really need to address that! So would the 205/50/16 provide a stiffer side wall and reduce or eliminate that sway?
