Cargo cover 09' Fit doesn't cover

Has anyone noticed that there is a 1/3" gap on the cargo shelf between the hatchback door and the shelf? I installed it properly. I can take a flashlight and actually shine down between the rear hatchback window and the cargo shelf. It's not a good fit (no pun intended).

I wouldn't know. My dealer was supposed to get me one when I bought mine a few weeks ago, and they didn't, so I haven't gotten it yet.

Would you rather it sit flush against the hatch and squeak all the time?

The gap you are describing sounds minimal.

Sounds minimal - looks massive.

Let's suppose your gun (in case) is in the back. Kiss that gun goodbye. I guess the point is, you expect the cover to cover and not expose items for routine viewing.

I haven't actually noticed that I can see anything past my cover....but I'll take a look tonight when I get home. I thought I recalled checking that before, and couldn't see anything though....

He's referring to the space between the door and the cover, not the cover and the seat!

You can actually see the contents of your cargo area with the hatch closed through a 1/3" gap? You need to work for a security firm of some sort because I couldn't see crap through that, espessially with window tint.

But BakedCookies is right. If it was touching, it would make noise.

I remember seeing a small gap once my install was complete as well...only noticed because my capacitor has a bright blue LED display on all the time.

Reclining should help a bit. You could just throw a towel or something over it, or slide your gun case closer to the hatch area making it harder to spot (if it fits)..

Actually, anyone with a 09' Fit and a flashlight can see this gap. It is noticeable. I just found out why there is a gap though. There are two rubber stops. One on each side of the shelf. They butt up against the hatch. I could remove those, or perhaps change them out for smaller sized rubber stops.

there are easy fixes for this, like you could just tack on a piece of rubber that'll extend out a bit and that'll take away all the angle to view what's in your trunk. In general though I don't think it'll be a big issue unless you're a specific target by someone. chances are someone will walk by, see the cargo cover and proceed to the next possible car 'cause they don't know if it's worth breaking into your car ;p

Actually I intend to install an anti view laser weapon that will detect and destroy anyone who attempts to gaze into the 1/3" void between the window and the hatch. Preemptive strike is most effective. Just kiddin.

I have limo tint in the back so I don't notice it. Nobody has a chance of seeing in my cargo area unless there is a bright light in there at night.
