Just had my first oil change and....
Well, yesterday I had my first oil change and the car feels totally different otherwise! Now I don't know if they changed anything other than the oil, but the shifting feels soooo much smoother now (M/T obviously), and the car seems to drive a little bit quieter too....did anyone else notice this? Or is this a special case/I am on crack?

All kidding aside, you are correct... there is some basic noticeable increase is smoothness from the engine after an oil change from very dirty oil to new. It all just depends on how dirty the oil gets between changes... I'm sure the first oil batch should result in initial wearing and a very gritty oil.

So far I have to go with the person who said the car was warmer from having been in the shop.
You can ask if they changed the transmission oil, or if they reset the ECU; either of those might make the car feel noticeably different. Also, perhaps the tires were very low on air and they put them back up where they belonged.
But just changing the engine oil and filter is not going to make a difference in the way the car drives.

Ahh, good ol PSY 2020. The placebo affect is a wonderful discovery :P
You might be right though, it's a possibility. Who knows how long the oil before first change has been sitting in our engine :/

You guys are also missing 1 important reason why it might feel faster... Its a mental thing.... if you get something done to your car you expect it to be better... ex: changing an air filter.... save an old one then after a little while driving on the new one clean the old one and put it in your car with expectations that it will give you more power... you will probably think that it got faster....

since driving up to Jersey cold weather, the shifts feel like they take more effort engaging, specifically 1st gear. Also my oil life says 20% and I'm at 9900mi so I should go get an oil change this week
