Is there such things as cheap and reliable?

Ive run the prolume kits in other cars for years without issues threw -40 weather up north! So my vote is forsure to prolume kits!

If you want proper HID's you need to retrofit projectors in there.

Retrofit would be the best, but honestly, how many of us would want to rip apart our lights and retrofit something that was meant to go in there??? now if they made prefabricated brackets that were high quality and an adjustable beam I'd consider it.

That being said, the newer slew of HID kits that do have a shield aren't that bad! The Bixenon kits I've seen with the cutoff shield didn't look that bad. I'd rather give up uniqueness of a retrofit for ease of a proper bixenon kit anyday.

It's not about uniqueness or easiness of installation, its a matter of safety issues to other drivers as well as yourself.

Can you honestly tell me that those cars that have the stupid blue lights do not cause you problems when their glaring lights are in your rear view mirror? Or even when they are incoming? That whole two seconds when you blink your eyes, or you start squinting because he's tailing you, you can become distracted and possibly lead yourself, and others, in a freak accident.

Please don't get caught in this silly trend. HID's are like the new neon lights. Neons were popular early in the tuning scene, but now its ricey amongst a majority of tuners.

Now if the price was cheaper I'd be all over it.

Hes right ^ It looks plain ridiculous and doesnt make the road any brighter. Get brighter halogen bulbs if you dont want to retrofit. But if you want usable white light with no glare you need a retrofit. Has nothing to do with being unique.

This guy https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...rojectors.html

Lives about 15 minutes from me. I contacted him about retrofitting me some lights. He said he hasnt done them for the GE so hes sort of afraid to do it. But hes going to try to find some way to practice on them and make measurements. He should be contacting me soon. Hopefully ill be the first GE that I know of to have retrofitted HID's.

Manong, my 2008 Volks R32 comes with Stock Bixenons, so I know what "good" HIDs look like I have JDM 98spec HID headlights on my '96 GSR have had them for years.

I'm all for safety, tell it to those idiot Escalate guys running 1000k purple bulbs blinding everyone in traffic.

All I am saying to the OP is do your research, Retrofitting is the best but not everyone has 500-800 to spend on a retrofit. Newer kits with the shields aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be, but like I said, do your research.

The lights you're looking at happen to be the HID retrofits Rich @ HID ILLUSIONZ did for my GE8 (Taffeta White). I got together with him in January and started the process on the first retrofit from him for a GE8 Fit. Absolutely could not be happier with the quality of work, fit and finish, etc. I've been sitting on them for a while due to the past few weeks of crappy installation weather. Now the weather is finally cooperating and I should have them installed and photographed for the board by sometime next week.

Anyway, I can enthusiastically recommend Rich and HID Illusionz!

Save yer pennies and don't be tempted to mess around with HID kits that just stick a HID bulb in your stock reflectors. In my experience and in the opinion of many lighting specialists (and motorists!) it's just not worth it... My 2 cents.

Cheers,

Baz

cheap and reliable don't play very well together.built something that will save you some hassle in the long run and you want to stay at 6k area above that it's just for show and won't give you the best output.

That would be the light pattern from a non-projected ge8 with a 55w 8000k bi-xenon kit....its just doesn't have the same cut off as the projectors...but its not terrible..
