2007 S2000 to 2009 Fit?
I currently have a 2007 S2000 that I use as my daily driver, and I am contemplating replacing it with a 2009 Fit. I was wondering if anyone here happened to come from an s2000 and if so, do you regret switching to the Fit? I realize it will be much slower, but I am missing having space to actually carry things (and people). I also think I would get more enjoyment out of my S2000 if it was a weekend only car, but unfortunately I can't afford two vehicles at this point in my life. Thanks!

lol, I have 3 cars right now on my single income w/ my mortgage, wife works PT and goes to school.
trust me I know the pain.
The Fit is affordable enough on anyone with a decent income. paid close to 21k otd for fully loaded Sport w/ Nav Auto, no money down, payments are 400.
but I have a nice 96 Integra GSR w/ JDM conversion if anyone is interested.

Cost too much to keep it, at 155k miles it was in the shop every month for something.

I went from a 02 GTI, chipped, lowered etc etc. to a 09 Fit. No regrets. But I was at a point in my life when I was ready for more practicality. 5-10 years ago I loved modding cars but now I would rather put my extra money elsewhere.

But I know that everytime I'm behind the wheel of Fit I enjoy the responsive chassis, the great steering, and a ride/handling balance akin to my now departed Miata.
Does it provide the same ultimate visceral thrills? No. But the the reality is it provide more of that fun experience more of the time, the Miata feeling like a compromise until that singular moment where you could get the chassis working and feel what it was meant to do.
I ultimately don't regret my choice, the Fit has enough sporting character to it to keep me happy when I feel in such a mood, but is an infinitely better car for everything else. It simply doesn't feel the sporting compromise that I though it'd be.
-edit- I do miss top down motoring though!

That is a tough question. I don't own an s2000 but have test-driven one and almost bought it. They are fabulous little cars. Chances are, you will miss it if you sell it and purchase a Fit. Now don't get me wrong, the Fit is a fun little car, but it is not a sports car. Also, how important is the drop top to you? You are going from a convertible to something that doesn't even have a sunroof (although you can put in an aftermarket one).
So it really depends on how much the performance and feel of a RWD car is to you. The Fit can probably tide you over for a few years, but if you are into cars, you will probably start getting that itch and want another sports car soon. Trust me...I know. Maybe in a few years, you will be in a position to afford/be able to have a second car. Then you can have the best of both worlds.

I came from an 01 S2000. Honestly I like the Fit better. Its a better car in general. My S2000 was fun but it wasnt fast enough to keep up with cars in the same division (350z, e46 M3, evo's etc) Although it was an amazing car, it was outdated. And the fact that honda refused to do ANY major changes to it in 10 years pissed me off. The Fit is just as fast as my S2000 under 6000. I hate that you have to rev the S2000 to 6000k+ to get ANY sort of power out of it.
Im in my Fit because I totalled my S2000. I couldve easily gone to another S2000 but im happy with my 38mpg, tons of space, great handling and reliability of a new car.

If you like the sports car and if it works for you keep it.
When you need or want something larger, rent it. Very cheap rental rates, especially if you take long trips. You can run a rental car into the ground. They charge you the same if you drive it one mile or 5,000 miles. Get just the vehicle you need when you need it, and then give it back. The rest of the time, you have your pretty S-2000.
Out here in the country, Enterprise is the only renter, and our small-town operation usually rents cars with over 30,000 miles on them. However, if you are near civilization, and if you shop for deals, you can rent the car you need at a very reasonable rate.
Cheers.

Actually this is very common for people to switch from a costly impractical sports cars to a more practical cheaper car. It all depends on the person and what their life situation is to make this decision (yes every one wants a practical dd and a sports car for the weekend but is it realistic most of the time no). I went from an 01 Acura CL-S so I def. know what you are talking about when it comes to losing some power but gain some space. My CL of course is a coupe and the seats didn't fold down so I was always having trouble carrying people/larger items. Yes I miss the power sometimes but I love being able to haul stuff around (Just took my wife, two dogs and their dog cages for a road trip) and still have a fun little go kart to toss around on spirited driving days (Can't complain about the mpg either)
There was actually a thread/poll a while back about alot of subie wrx/sti owners switching to fits as well. You might be able to relate there as well. I believe there also might have been some s2k owners as well...Here is the thread.

Good luck on the decision!

I have an S2000 and am considering a Fit. Can't decide if I should trade in the S2000 for the Fit or just buy/lease the Fit. The Fit would actually be a replacement for my current 05 TL 6MT (which is at end of lease). Having driven the Fit, I think I'd be happy with the versatility and utility but will probably miss the S2000's 9000 rpm redline, shifter and overall feel.

I went from a 2007 BMW 335i sedan w/Sport to a 2009 Fit Sport MT. In my particular case, it's because I want to build a new house, and the Fit is 38K cheaper than my BMW . I needed that cash back.
The Fit is not a BMW in any respect, but I actually enjoy driving it. It has a sporty feel to it, and despite the HP difference, it gets around pretty good. I also had a 94 Del Sol VTEC DOHC, which is probably closer in effect to your S2000. I do miss the sunroof and/or convertible.
The Fit is surprisingly fun to drive, and has tons of space in it. Its passenger and hatch space is within about 2 cuft of the 335i sedan total w/trunk, and probably has better rear passenger leg room. It is basic transport, but will likely hold up well, being a Honda, and will likely retain a high resale value if you decide at some point that you want to move back to a sportscar.
