Steering wheel audio control

Seeing this pic of JDM Jazz makes me wonder if North American market Fit w/out Nav can use the Steering Wheel Audio control. Looks like it would just plug write in on steering wheel harness. The audio head unit is probably completely different but you never now, looks the same between JDM and here.

Looks like switch assembly for cruise, audio and nav controls is one piece harness with both side switches (part number 6 which is $155)

More likely a EDM Jazz.

The Climate controll is electronic, so you set the temperature and the thermostate hold the cabin temperature to that setting and adjust the heating and fan speed automatic.

I have that in my GD1 Jazz too

The same line of reasoning was applied to the GD, without good results. As Niko said, the harnesses WILL be different. In the GD thread I reviewed, folks actually installed the hardware onto the wheel, and the net result was the controls still didn't work due to the head unit.

In the 15 years I worked GM assembly, I rarely saw a harness with unused connections based on deleted options. Most often than not, it would use an entirely different harness which deleted the unneeded connection from the start.

Hmm, well this is one of the few things I miss on the Fit compared to my MCS. The audio controls on the steering wheel were nice. Oh well.

Meh, I'd rather have those gauges. It looks awesome in red! Kinda like the Si compared to the standard trims...

I would be interested in a write up on this if anyone takes the time to do it. Its one of the only things I miss about my Pontiac. That and accelerating.

The harness may well be different, but the actual audio unit with a socket for the controls will probably be the same. I think all Fits/Jazzes (apart from Navi) have the same unit.

You should be able to just make your own harness and run it down the steering column. You just need to figure out how to connect it to the back of your head unit. That might be a matter for experimentation. Just be careful, even though the voltages are small, you don't want to put them somewhere they're not expected!
