Anyone done Xpel Headlight Film on their '09?

I've been thinking about getting the XPel Headlight Protection Kit for the Fit and noticed the difficulty rating for our kit is 5-stars, or "Experts Only". It doesn't seem like it would be that hard, although the Fit lights are pretty big and have that bump on top for the turn signal.

Has anybody installed this kit, yet, and how difficult is it? I'd hate to ball up $70 worth of film because I attempted an install that was too difficult.

The xpel film isnt that thick, and the 09's headlights are relatively flat except for the hump. If u are going to install it, use lots of water/soap spray for the flat portion of the bottom portion of the headlight, and minimal to none during the hump for the turn signal. Taht way, the glue on the xpel can stick to the turn signal portion rather then slide around. Also, do it during the day where there is sunlight or use a blowdryer because you will need the film to be stretchy.

Post I have Durashield . . .

on my GE8 headlights. (I had Xpel on my GD3).

I didn't do it myself, I had it professionally installed. The installer said the lights, mirrors and hood were a b!tch to install.

They didn't even cover the bump, but I don't care, they got most of it and it looks really good.

xpel headlight protectors on my other car is thick stuff... atleas 4-5x more thick
than their clearbra for bumpers.

you'll definitely want to use heat (ideally IR heat lamp) to heat the film while
working it on. that hump will make things pretty intimidating. good luck.

Yep - The headlights would be really tough, given the thickness of the material. I used similar stuff on my fogs. I bought the bulk roll and cut out two ovals... even on the fogs it was difficult because it's so thick. I ended up using a hairdryer, a lot of pressure, and a lot of patience... but they worked out.

I bet the headlights would be pretty tough.

Where are you finding the DIY kit?

Hopefully this link works.

If not, it's the XPel H0227B Kit which you can find on Xpel's site.

txmatt-

Why don’t you get 3M clear bra – I have it all over the front (in addition to headlights and fog lights - thinner material), including both fenders, pillars and as well, 1/5 of the roof above the window.

Two installers I would highly recommend –

Trey Pappas – SpeedShield (located at an airport hangar by Frisco/McKinney line).

Mikel Lindsey – Auto Designs Texas (near Alliance Airport in north Fort Worth).

I had a different type of film professionally installed, but they didn't cover the headlight "hump".

Thanks Damien. How much did that run you? I had looked before and it seemed some of the clear bra installs were pushing $1k.
