I wish the Fit had a fuel door lock/release

are people stealing gas in your neighborhood?

Hi all,
Just was searching fuel doors around fitfreaks and read that EUDM models fuel door locks when auto-doors lock. He even posted pics from his 07 fit:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gene...nda-fit-2.html
<a href="locking fuel door picture by novaclaw - Photobucket" target="_blank"><img src="http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/s...09-30_0005.jpg" border="0" alt="locking fuel door"></a>
So the question becomes, can US owners order that solenoid and, of course, how to integrate it into the auto lock system?
Thanks

If the space is there, all it needs is a solenoid with a pin that retracts when the doors are unlocked. Use a relay to tie it in with your central locking.
You might even be able to source JDM parts to fit right in.

I don't know why this is even an issue for anyone? Who care if the gas cap locks? No sunroof option, no outside temperature indicator, no real engine thermometer, no lumbar support for the seats, no 6-speed transmission, no armrest with storage etc., those are real things to fret about not having, but a locking gas cap? I don't get that one.

but my evil side has always makes me wonder what would happen if i throw a burning match down a refuel tube on a car that doesn't have a locking gas cap kidding. don't do it.

I actually kind of like the finger lip gas door. Less of a hassle than having to remember to pull a lever.
My last car was a 2002 Civic. One day the latch cable that opens the gas door decides to snap. Lucky me, I was on empty at the gas station and my gas light was on. I had to go through the trunk, pull back the carpet liner in order to manually open the gas door myself. Did this for a few fillups before I had time to bring her in to the dealership. Thankfully for my 100K mile warranty, Honda replaced the cable for free.

On my del Sol, the lock release was a cable pull near the driver's thigh. It had a key lock itself to keep valets or people from reaching in and triggering it if you left the roof off/windows down.
The lock mechanism itself could be manually-released from inside the trunk if the wire broke by pulling the trunk liner loose (velcro'ed in place) on that side of the car.
The problem with most people's proposed solenoid is that solenoids generally are energized in one position, either pulled or pushed, when power is applied. To work with the Fit, you'd need to attach springs to the door mechanism so that the solenoid could be a momentary-release, with the spring(s) opening the door enough to clear the latch pin, so that you wouldn't need to leave the solenoid energized the whole time.

Ok looking at the service manual (thanks beaugus !) and scroll down to GE8 > Body > Security/Keyless/Locks > KeylessEntry/SecurityAlarmSystem, we can see there is "Fuel Lid Lock Actuator Replacement" ! It connects using a 2 wire connector, which led me to "Keyless/PowerDoorLocks/SecuritySystemCircuitDiagram" and we can see that the 2 lines might be tapped via the rear left (or right) door actuator lines.
Now all we need maybe is the part number for fuel door acutator and maybe get this done!

Someone without the lock should have a look inside that panel and see if they have a two pin connector. If so that would make it really simple.
Otherwise, you have a whole lot of trim to get past to get to the nearest door lock actuator.
Given that USDM models in general do not have the lock I don't think it's likely you will find the connector.

locking gas cap notes ...
Although gas theft in the future may well become a fact of life, were I a thief , I'd target an SUV ??? However , there may [well]? be a theft deterrent in the gas neck that we're not aware of ?
just a thought ...
- dand ...
PS - the '09 Fit Sport , w/ doors Locked , does Not lock gasoline access. [ panel or cap ] ... ( currently , I like that , maybees - "down the road " - not so much ? ( BUT - At Least I don't have to worry about the ENTIRE CAR going missing ? - As I'm not attempting to "shine jewels" publicly ? { Practical , Logical, Functional } my point ...
