Not so new :(

Never thought it would happen to me!

A possum or some sort of small animal ran out in front of my brand new fit about a week ago. I was on the freeway going 55mph (posted speed) and the thing hit my bumper so hard (the part under the license plate area) that it got jammed in, radiator is out and AC condenser is out. Not only that, this thing messed up the body alignment of the body parts in the front.

It sucks cause the Fit is low as I'm sure your all aware (some/most would say not low enough :P) but this little f'er screwed my car!

Anyways, just needed to rant. Don't have any pictures, but the mechanics said its not a total loss and shouldn't be too bad to repair. For now I'm stuck driving a huge Chevy (gag) Malibu.

BUMMER!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully this will be the first and last of tragedies for your Fit. I hope they re-align the body panels correctly.

Look on the bright side. It could have been worse. At least you didn't swerve and total your car.

Ya that was on my mind, and at least I'm safe and ok.

The body shop I took it to should re align the panels well. They have great reviews and are AAA certified. So, I'm hoping for the best

Hitting a small animal at hwy speed is sure to do some damage, especially in that lower grill area, which is why a lot of people have been installing lower grill guards (custom, homemade, or even aftermarket) to prevent rocks, etc from damaging the A/C condenser.

This might have protected your condenser and radiator some, but hitting a small animal at 55mph is a lot different than some small rocks, or pebbles.

Check these links for some great DIY's, this is something I plan on doing to my Fit as soon as I can. I just hope it warms up a little next week when I pick up my car.

At least is wasn't too serious, you're safe, and the car will be repaired.

eck! Do you have insurance coverage for this? Hopefully it covers most if not all!

But most important thing is that you're okay.....stuff like that can be pretty scary. Just be thankful it wasn't a deer or moose =p

Maybe you can do a JDM front end conversion now. Just playing... kind of.

Glad you're safe.

Out here we say that you've either hit a deer or you will. Everybody keeps pretty low deductibles on their comprehensive.

Thanks FitStir, I'll most likely end up doing one of those DIY's, awesome!

It is covered under comprehensive, I only have a 100 dollar deductable.

As far as a JDM conversion, I would absolutely love to do one! LOL, just don't know if the body shop or my insurance is down :P

Did you go to Carmat Collision Center across from Staples?

Go ahead and puke.

I, for one, am glad he's OK.

I've given up on getting worked up over something that can be fixed or replaced with money and time. The world is full of cars.

Cheers.

manxman: Nah, I got it towed over to Chris Bordners on Center near the Po Po station.

SportMTNavi: I kinda agree with Chainsaw, cause after a while when the same people keep saying they are glad your ok, it just gets old (but as would anything). At the same time, your totally right, cars can be re-built, bodies can't (well you get the idea).

Thanks for the support guys!
