I'm probably not buying a new Fit right away. With what is going on with the economy and uncertain job security I'm feeling different about a car payment than I did in September. The fact that gas prices are a lot lower also is a factor. We had bought the Fit as a third car. I will wait a few months and see how it goes. I really do want one though...I love the car.

It is a great time to buy a new Fit though. I had a dealership near me offer $100 over dealer invoice. That is a lot different than back in September when I had a hard time finding a car and paid sticker...

TaffetaWhite, I did see that car. That is actually the car that CCC Valuescope used for the first offer on settlement. I called the dealer to see if there were any issues and there were not. That is a crazy price on an 09 with only 900 miles. I want a manual though so I never considered it.

I very much appreciate all the peoples help and comments in this thread. You truly did help me get a better settlement. Thanks!

Yeah, I totally understand about not buying another car right now...Having 3 cars and the insurance that goes along with it is a big strain on the finances. I'm driving our 3rd car, my old car became my son's car. Next year he will be in college and we'll have to see what happens to the Camry...no way can we put all 4 family members on the insurance, especially 2 teenagers, one only 16. I guess at that point it will mean letting go of the Camry...

Anyway, didn't mean to insert myself. At least no one was hurt, and in the end you got a great settlement. That's what counts, all else is details.

And things are going to get A LOT worse before they get better, so hang on.

Makes me think twice about turning off the auto door locks feature. I thought it'd wear out the power locks on all doors since they'd be locking and unlocking everytime I drove and parked. I've never been in an accident and I thought door latches were enough without having to lock them, but don't know exactly the mechanism. Maybe I should turn it back on. Which setting do you all use? The "lock when above 9mph" or "lock when shifting into drive"?

Obviously you don't live in a crime area too (Minnesota is a loooooong ways away from Oakland )

That being said, one of the first things you should enable when buying your car in a metropolitan area is the auto door locks. Carjackings are a lot more rare these days, but I wouldn't want to tempt fate.

FWIW, here in Michigan I recently installed Blizzak WS-60 tires on our '09 Sport, and it transformed the car's performance in snow/ice. Were you on stock tires?
Im curious: what size did you buy? I dont see 185/55R16 for the W60 on tirerack, which I believe is the Fit Sport's OEM size...

Sorry to see an Orange Revolution Fit perform a full revolution. Be thankful for no injuries. BTW, Fliptwister, allow me a recommendation for you, or anyone who posts a picture. Blur out the license plate #. There are too many crazy/malicious people around the Internet to allow that sort of direct public identification.

Look for 175/65R15 Blizzak WS-60 and get a set of 15" steelies. The base model comes with 15" wheels.

there is nothing wrong with showing your plate.

your driving.

I really don't believe in plastic wheel covers. I just put center caps and chrome lug nuts from my old Civic and left the rims black.

I may paint the wheels silver/gray but I'm not sure about that yet.

Where did you get your steelies? I couldn't see them on Tire Rack, although they were supposed to available in June. The cheapest Sport Edition(?) were about $79 each.

From the dealer where I bought my Fit. 15x5.5" and they were $61 Canadian.

So the driver's side door came open on the first roll hit and then it hit again?
The door opened after first roll. and then got crushed the other way against the car. I vacuumed about 8 gallons of snow out of the car.
Glad your both OK. I'm more concerned that the door came open.
Yep, another door latch failure...caused by a weak door latch mechanism...resulting in movement (and thus door opening) of the door latch during excessive up/down forces. Guess how I know....

Doors should not fly open...even during a roll-over. And in this case, it was not during excessive speed.
