What should I do? Dealership screwed up my car.

After taking delivery of my car in late November, I noticed a few cosmetic flaws on the car (heater control knob and steering column scratched). The dealership agreed to order the parts. And I had them install the new items the day after Christmas.

Once I picked it up they told me they had to have someone come in and touch up the dash since they scratched it while replacing the heater control knob. I wasn't too excited about that, but drove it home that night. After looking at it closely I noticed that they got overspray on all three of the knobs and the cup holders. They also painted part of the steering column (ignition area). I talked to the service manager tonight, and I'm just not sure what to do if they can't get this car back to factory condition.
I waited over two months for this car to come in, now I don't even want it.
I like the car in general but I'm mad at what they did with it.

I'm actually thinking of trading it in or something. This sucks

Any suggestions???

Yeah, I wouldn't trade it, you will take a loss. I would have them fix it. It was their fault so they should take care of it. They admitted fault when they took it for the repair and they messed up when they tried to fix it.

They need to order you new parts. They need to install your new parts. All of them. No questions asked. Tell them that and demand to speak to the highest "ranking" person available. Come in with a letter addressed to the better bussiness bureau. F-that.

There is always some person at a dealer who wants the customer to be satisfied. Find that person. If you can't, Honda can find that person for you. They want you to be happy so you'll come back for another. Keep your cool and don't get emotionally involved with the problem. Put your energy into deciding what you really want, and then pursuing it. Car dealers (and anyone who works with the public) are used to dealing with people who rant and rave and foam at the mouth. They blow them off. Stay reasonable, but determined and insistent, and I bet you get what you decide you want (my guess would be all new parts--no spray paint).

Stop going back to that dealer and contact Honda directly. Explain the situation and ask them to refer you to another dealer to resolve it properly.

keep a big smile and sense of humor and have them replace the parts they screwed up until you are satisfied. throw in a few jokes while you're at it. kinda make fun of
their work and tell them they can do better than a 5yr old..or watever.

it sucks but your new car is worth a lot more than a few interior bits that got
messed up.

for it to be mint it would need a new dash. It has minimal scratches, but some overspray. It screwed up like two days of my vacation because I was so annoyed.
I doubt they would let me get a fit since I've had it for over a month now and have hit 1200 miles. This is supposed to be the best honda dealer in the area. They have been selling Hondas since 1964.

Don't be mean but don't be affraid to be assertive. 17K is a MAJOR investment for anyone, especially a young person. You are entitled to be made WHOLE if they screwed up your car. They have to order the parts, they have to install them, they can not ignore you. Go straight to the top. Obviously the guy you've been dealing with is incapable of doing the job right. Contact the district sales manager and explain the situation, be kind to him and let him know that the level of service has been less than desireable and that you don't feel satisfied. If they continue to duck the responsibility, then do what you have to. They know they are at risk of having to spend the money, don't let them hose you.

I'm going there tomorrow to figure out what can be done. They should have called me before deciding to use touch up on my interior. The average person might not care that much, but I'm very particular about my cars. If you want to get an idea of what the overspray looks like, just picture what it would look like if you sneezed on the knobs and center console cup holders but couldn't wipe it off.

I would really just need to get a new fit, but I know it would probably take a few months for one to come in. I'd even opt for a auto this time around.

You won't get a new Fit, you're not entitled to one. You are entitled a new interior.

I agree with method and kenchan. new fit isn't really a possibility but getting it fixed correctly will happen if you know what you want, stay cool, and keep a sense of humor.

In order to get it fixed correctly they would have to replace 7 parts including the dash board. This blows.

I would also recommend taking pics and recording all the events in case it goes south.

Painting the interior? That is ghey. You bought a new car. That's what you should have. They screwed up. It's their fault. I wouldn't put up with that. I would want all new parts and if u are compitent, install them yourself. 4 sure contact Honda.
