GE8,

Why not just take a Greyhound bus or some other form of mass transit out there and pick up the car yourself?

i bought mine new but the car broker i worked with had it driven down without telling me. there was 100 miles on it. i was pissed.

there was a certain way i wanted my fit broken in and i wasn't allowed to do so cause of this.

with the state of the auto industry, walk away and tell the dealership you want it paid for or bye bye. i bet they pay for it.

my fit had 326 miles on it told them to drop the price 700 and we had a deal dropped the price and gave me all weather mats and a fit key chain

Option 1: Take it and drive it away today with 250 miles on it..not a scratch on the car. Just miles since they had to drive it from another dealership.

Option 2: Wait for them to get another new one in which they've researched would take months.

I know 250 in the long run is nothing. But I just don't want to pay for a "used" car. What would y o u do???
I'm confused. How can you buy a car without having a specific car in mind? Do you mean you ordered a car? Put in a request for a specific model? And which model? What color and transmission?

Because I'm just itching to look up more cars. And I am already. Gives me something to do and makes me feel useful.

I hate dealer trades, I hate when a car has miles put on a test drive. Unless you see the car with under 10 miles, it was probably taken on a test drive and someone redlined it like crazy, who doesn't do that on a test drive. Every car I've got had less than 5 miles. If a dealer tells me they can only get me a car by a dealer trade, I just find out who that dealer is buy directly from that dealer, you'll get a better deal anyway. Any deal that involves a dealer trade means that you're not getting the best deal because your dealer has to give some money or whatever else to the other dealer for giving up a car.

Of course if you live in a small town and they are the only dealer and you don't want to be on their bad list, just live with the miles. Let's face it in the long run, even if they did beat the crap out of the car, will it affect anything, no not really. I don't think I've ever heard of a car breaking because it wasn't broken in correctly.

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the advice. At the end of the day, I guess it just simply depends on your personality. If you're the type that saved up that much more JUST to get a "BRAND NEW CAR" and not used 'cause you want to keep the car forever, it'd be understandable you wouldn't want another butt touching that seat. There's a certain pride that goes a long with saying, "I've put every single mile myself on this car."

For me, it's not about the amount of miles...25 or 250. I agree, 250 will be achieved in one week if it's your daily driver! To me, it's the principle. It's like buying a shirt and having the store say, oh, before you go though, one of our guys is going to wear it down to the food court, get a burger and come back up..then you can have the sweater.

For me...I love the fact that it's from Japan...100% I'm the guy that loves keeping every single piece of paper from the car, I love the stickers from Japan, the misc. paperwork that's insignificant to the end consumer but serves as almost a birth certificate! Not just the window sticker..but everything~!

With all that said, the dealer was able to locate one being made in Suzuka, Japan. It'll be here in 6 weeks. Straight from Japan to the dealership. 0 Miles. I'll make sure they save every single sticker, every piece of paper/literature. This Fit will be around forever!

Btw, 09 TF Sport MT Rare Rare Rare car. 15 dealerships in one state didn't have that combo. I've got one now though!

I am glad you made your decision, though your a little more committed to it than I, lol. I understand though. A car for a lot of people, including myself, IS a very personal thing. Just like a bed and house, you spend a lot of time in it and you want it to be exactly what you want. I keep all the reciepts, stickers, etc. as well. I also take a ton of pictures and videos. Just make sure the dealership doesn't toy with you because of the special order. With 250 miles on the other car, you had a little more say so in the negotiation. I think the dealer will have more of the upper hand with the price and such with the special order. Maybe not though because you could still walk away, lol!

haha that's funny, i picked mine up 120 miles from where i live, but i got exactly what i wanted. i wanted an 09 silver sport in manual, and i'd say it was worth it. b/c i got to get the exact car i wanted, i didnt have to wait and i only had to pay msrp. nobody had the car in stock. with the gas savings from my landrover, the car halfway pays for itself. less than $20 to fill up with premium

So glad you were able to get what you wanted without having the worry about the milage. Your new Fit will have about 7 to 10 miles on it since they have to drive them onto the boat, off the boat and onto whatever it might be rail car or hauler. I am like you and have embraced everything Japanese with this car including Japanese stickers and Japanese good luck cats on my rear view mirror and tow hook. So just keep on the forum and let us see a picture once you get your car. Congrads!

I had to settle for a slightly used Fit, because I wanted a blackberry pearl automatic sport, and couldn't find one anywhere in the South, and pretty much anywhere else, when I was ready to buy, late last summer. I knew I did not want an '09, or I'd have waited for them to come out.

I bought my Fit sight unseen, except for photos on the dealer's website. I had it trucked down to me, and there were miles put on between the dealer and when I picked it up, or so it seems. Did the flatbed guy take it for a test drive? I'll never know. What could I do about it once I took delivery? Nothing. It was filthy dirty but still the prettiest car I'd ever seen.

I thought about flying up to the dealer and driving it back, but that would have added another 8-900 miles and we already had 1000 on the odometer. Someone had bought the car and drove it for a month, and decided to get a Mazda 5 instead. She thought the Fit was too small.

So I settled for a car that had some miles already on it. In an ideal situation, I'd have had a brand new one. I wanted my very first brand-new, all-my-own car to be only driven by me. But in the end, I took what I could get, and I'm still deliriously happy I got the color and tranny and body style I wanted. Especially the color! I paid too much, and then I paid more to have it brought down to me. Whatever. I love my car, and it makes me happy every day.

Long story - do what it takes to get the exact car you want, if you can. If you can't, get most of what you want, love your car, and move on.

Dude, you are wasting your money to put premium gas in your Fit! It doesn't need premium. Did you mistake it for a Smart Car?

Yes, with Premium on an engine designed for regular, you could end up with the opposite result you're aiming for - less power, less mileage.
