exactly what major maintenance at ~30k miles are you talking about? unless i'm mistaken, there is none.

It might not be 30k but I wont have to worry about a major service for a while. On my other cars they usually needed a major service done around 30-40k which included the timing belt, plugs, and other items since they were FI.

Those major services at 30k are what a lot of dealerships push to make extra money. If you go by the manual there aren't many things you have to do besides an oil change and rotation. Rotation is optional obviously. Most cars don't require a tune up these days until 100k and a timing belt should last until at least 60k even up to 120k.

I've seen some cars that require some extras. My Lexus requires a brake fluid exchange every 30k, don't know why their the only cars, both the GS and RX manual state to do it. Maybe those cars have sensitive brakes.

But for the most part there should be nothing major until 100k.

yea just replacing the engine coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid is all i can think of that would be remotely close to "major." but they're about as major as changing the engine oil really, except that you don't have to do it as often. you should refer to your owner's manual, it's all in there. just remember to inspect your parts once in a while that's all really.

Normally you wouldn't need a coolant, brake fluid or transmission fluid change for a long time, not anywhere near 30k. The only thing I would do for a Honda is take care of the transmission. Honda's have bad transmissions at least compared to Hondas. This is from hearsay but also from my own experience. My mom has a 1988 Toyota Camry, it has 200k and no problems. My old 2003 Honda Accord, had a transmission recall on it the first year it was out, At around 90K, the transmission went bad, according to the mechanic I went to, it was common for Hondas to have transmission problems. I'll be keeping a close eye on my Fit. But I guess that was the main reason I went for the 8y/120k warranty for $895 even though I think extended warranties on Hondas are useless and a waste of money.
