yea, well i got the auto 09 sport nav, so it has the paddle shifters and whatnot, and i was wondering if its bad to have the rpm's high? like , you can go around 45 - 50 in 3rd with if i remember from eariler , like 3500 rpms , as opposed to 4th at 2500 , you can go like 40 in 2nd at around 5000 , or 3rd gear around 3000 ? now it been a while since ive been home so those rpm's might not be accurate , but its somewhere around those.

If you're climbing a steep hill on the freeway, the A/T will shift down to 3rd at 65 to 70 mph, with 5K+ revs. Assuming you're past the break-in period, this won't hurt your engine at all. With small displacement motors, you often have to use high engine speeds to get sufficient power for your driving situation.

i suppose high revs for extended periods of time could cause unnecessary wear on the engine, but in normal driving probably not. It will hurt your wallet, however, with the extra fuel consumption.

little bump in power...more fuel...nothing wrong. Don't cruise at higher rpm's though. Won't damage anything but it's sorta pointless.

not to mention it'd be pretty loud too.

honda motors are meant to rev. short stroke makes revving easy and safe with the small honda motor. the power band is higher up in the rp range anyway.

Maybe you might benefit from a Blitz Throttle controller, it won't increase your rpm, but it will open the throttle faster increasing responsiveness. (from what I've been reading) https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ontroller.html

As long as we are talking about rpm's, does anyone know at what value the rev limiter kicks in on this car? Our Fit Sport w/Nav is on order, and will join a BMW 335i and our Garage Queen: a 2002 S2000 with the original AP1 engine with 9000 rpm limit. That S2000 uses the old, original, and slightly less sophisticated VTEC, where a solenoid-controlled high lift cam follower locks in at roughly 6000 rpm - creating lots of additional noise and a major boost in torque and power.

The S2000 engine is completely tolerant of high revs, the exception being those caused by the idiot who hits 2nd gear on an attempted 5-4 downshift at 70+ mph.
