O Happy Days - A new 2009 Fit in My Garage!!
Hello to the community! I have been reading posts for the past six weeks or so, learning about the Honda FIT. I was looking for a new car for my girlfriend to replace her 1996(!!) Maxima. She showed me a picture or two of the FIT and I ended up finding this site.
Thank you to everyone for all the information about the car!! I went to the dealership on Friday evening with the girlfriend to test drive the FIT. She is only 4' 10" and I was unsure if the car would "FIT" her. Of course she fell in love with the car and it fit her perfectly. I felt it was important (after reading the threads) to get the VSA, and the NAVI was an added bonus.
We worked out a good deal with the dealership ($10 under MSRP with floormats included - because I NEVER pay MSRP ). I feel very good about the purchase because of all the research I could do on this site. the color she wanted was Tidewater Blue, and luckily the dealer had one on the lot. My advice to the community is to use the internet to work with the dealer to set the price. Several Fits at this dealer had market adjustments on the sticker - raising the cost of the FIT to $1,500 over MSRP (including a few options such as mats, pinstriping, etc.). My buying experience was very smooth, with negotiation necessary only on the trade-in. Paying cash also makes the purchase MUCH more smooth.
It is a great car, inside and out. My gf has NEVER owned a new car before so she is in absolute heaven. She used to tease me about the time I spent on this site.. but I think that will stop now. I knew more about the car than the salesperson did (he had no idea about the steering wheel adjustment).
We have no intention of lowering it or other major modifications, but we will add tinting, a center console, and a few other items.
So now my girlfriend is in a fun, safe, and reliable car. I can do no wrong for the next few months, and I even get to drive it once in awhile!
Thank you once again for this great site and all your posts!!!

Congrats and welcome!
Now you must persuade your girlfriend to log in and post here since she's the primary driver.
I'm sure she'll feel the need to express her joy with her new toy. Why not express it here?
