1->2 shift resistance
#2
I know what you mean, you just have to pull a little harder into 2nd. I find it annoying if I'm on a steep hill, as it makes for a jerky motion cause its more delayed then other gears. But yeah, I know what your talking about.

Thinking back to my first 100 miles or so, I remember the transmission acting pretty weird according to what I was used to. I chalked it up to it being so new that it's just getting broken in and getting used to shifting. I don't know how much "technical" truth there is to that but, the tranny now shifts normally after just continuing to drive it. It's your call, and there's really no reason not to swing it by the dealer to get it checked out just to be sure...but if it were me I would probably just drive it normally a bit more and see if it goes away.

i drive an AT sport, but i remember my dealer telling me not to use sport until after a month or so-so miles [i forgot what it was], i tried it on day 3 anyway lol but im pretty sure he said this because the car is starting to break/kick in. when i got the car, it only had 4 or 11 miles, thats not alot hehe. so yea wait a week, maybe 2 [idk anything about MT], and if it still happens, get it checked. but i definatly recomend calling your dealer and asking them that.

I noticed a similar thing with mine too. the conclusion I came to is that the 1>2 shift (the syncro into 2nd perhaps?) seems to be more sensitive to incomplete clutch engagement. The point of engagement on my car is pretty close to the floor and, at least for me, I think because 1st gear is so low I was rushing the shift from 1>2 so I wasn't getting it the clutch fully engaged. I've found so far that as long as I'm a little more careful on the 1>2 shift it's pretty smooth, though still not as effortless as the rest of the gears.

I'd have to look in the manual to be sure but most new Honda's have dual or triple cone synchronizers on 1st and 2nd gears. This provides better synchronization as well as longer durability but does also cause a slightly notchy shift feel....it is normal however as long as it doesn't grind or pop out of gear.

I find that sometimes I'll pull shift lever out of first before I get the clutch completely depressed and it'll have more resistance coming out of gear and almost pop out of first. Most other times when I get the clutch in earlier, the 1-2 shift is smooth. And this isn't when I'm pushing it or attempting to shift quickly. Of the half a dozen manual transmission cars I've owned and driven on a daily basis over the past 20+ years, I've never had this issue before.

If you've only had t for a short time, be patient with it for a week or two.
I found my shift was like a bucket of bolts for the first few days, syncro kept blocking.
The more I drive it the smoother it seems to get. It's a bit of a running in thing.
