Smile 40" Sony Bravia fit in my fit

Went to buy a new tv last night. Purchased a 40" Sony flatscreen. The thing still had a box which gave me doubts, but tall mode swallowed it like a champ.

Just thought I'd poke my head in and make mention of it. The guy at the loading area thought I was crazy until he saw my seats go up.

I've had the car about 1 1.2 months, and time has been flying by!

Thumbs up

Yeah definitely post a pic if possible.

This is one of the main reasons I chose the Fit; space, and mpg..... unbeatable!!!

If I fit what I fit in my Acura/Honda hatchbacks, I can't even begin to imagine what I can fit in my FIT....
sorry for the excessive use of the word fit, it just fit.

New Fit and new Sony. What more do you need?

The fit should be able to handle those things with ease. I was able to put a 46 inch sharp aquos in the back of my trans am last year without a problem.

I bought a 42" the other day and was all psyched to drive the Fit to get it. 20 miles later, found out at the store it was a no-go. Plasma, could not lay on side. So, I drove home, got the truck, and went back. Found out that indeed there is a limit to what the Fit could haul.

The guy at Best Buy was like, no way that will Fit. Smugly, I was like, no problem, folded down the magic seats, and found out the guy was right. Instantly looked stupid. lol.

Well, technically you were right. If you could have laid it flat it would have fit, right?

Probably. I don't think you can lay Plasmas down like that, so we didn't try it.

The main issue was the stupid lip at the rear of the car. The floor to roof height was fine, but the liftover at the rear killed it. Too bad the floor wasn't more level with the opening, i.e. the opening a few inches lower/ hatch opening bigger on the bottom end.

Oh well. I don't buy 42" TV's very often. Not a real issue.

best buy ha ha

about a month ago i bought two (1 for the GF) 42" DYNEX LCD'S and two INSIGNIA Bluray's and a BOSE speaker system, it all fit!!! i still have all the boxes in the garage, i'll stuff them in and post a pic if there any non-believers!!
and the guy at best buy was one of those non-believers till he saw the seats go down into the floor, and then HE BELIEVED the words "it'll fit"

oh yes i laid them on their sides cuz the best buy guy said plazma's have to stay standing up
and if all the packaging wasn't so big i'd get 10 lcd's in there all standing upright

I snagged a Panasonic 42" Plasma 1040p at Best buy the Sat after thanksgiving. It was "open box", it was a display model - no box or manual for $699. I got it in the back of my Fit, sitting vertically on it's stand wedged slightly between the two front seats to help prevent tipping. Still had to drive home slow and I noted that the floor area over the spare tire is thin and whimpy when burdened with heavy electronic goodness...

When I saw the title of your post, I was sort of hoping you had installed a 40" LCD in your fit. Oh well!

I've been pretty impressed with the available space in mine so far, too. I can get a dog carrier for a 50 pound dog in there and still have room for 3 people--would not have worked in my old Protege.
