Any Canucks buy in the USA?
I live in Vancouver, BC, and I'm wondering if its feasible to buy my FIT in the USA. I'll get paddle shifters for the AT and I can get the NAV system! Have any Canadians looked at the numbers to see if it even makes sense financially? I know I'll lose the warranty in Canada, but I could always just cross the border to have it serviced I assume.

It's possible but it's complex. You need to get modifications done to make it meet Canadian safety and emissions standards. (It may or may not meet Canadian standards as manufactured for the US market. Canadian standards tend to be higher than American in these regards, although US cars now require tire pressure management systems and Canadian cars don't. Canadian cars do require daytime running lights, however, and to my knowledge American cars still don't.)
Honda US apparently really does not want Canadians buying new Hondas in the US, and has apparently threatened to cancel dealers who break the rule, so don't be surprised if US Honda dealers don't want to sell you a new Fit unless you have a US address and a US job. Of course, you will have to pay cash (or arrange your own financing) because you will not qualify for US loans as a Canadian resident.
I know people who have done it and if you are willing to endure the hassle, it can save you some money. However, sometimes you might have your new car on the driveway for a few weeks before you get all the paperwork in order and without that, you can't register it in Canada.

[Auto] WOW ---- New cars from US up to 30% cheaper (cost to import under $200) - RedFlagDeals.com Forums
It's a LONG thread but very informative on the proper procedure on importing cars from the US to Canada.
Like PhotoJim said, Honda/BMW is being extremely strict on selling to Canadians. I thought about going through that route before I bought my car on Halloween but I decided against it.
We both live in Vancouver so we could just drive to Bellingham or Seattle to get our cars BUT the problem with that is the wasted time/gas if you go down there and they refuse to sell to you.
