Tire type and size question re: 09 Fit Sport
I have a deposit on an 09 Sport, and I have been looking into possible A/S tires. I am looking at the Yokohama Avid H4S in 205-45-16, the Bridgestone "Grid" in 195-55-16. I also looked at the Michelin exaltos in 195-50-16, but they are SO pricey.
The main questions I have are, how the larger(wider) tires will affect my mileage and performance (besides obvious grip differences)? And also, if the 195-55-16 has an acceptable aspect ration for the car.
In addition, I am looking for insights about an all season tire with good all around performance, that is very good in the snow, and whether or not anyone has experience with the above tires in the snow. I live in New Jersey and will be doing quite a bit of winter driving this season.
I have also read about the Toyo Proxes 4 and considered them as well.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, the stock size on a Fit Sport is 185/55-16, which has a sidewall height of 101.75 mm. A 205/45 has a sidewall height of 92.25 mm, a 195/55 has a sidewall height of 107.25 mm, and a 195/50 has a sidewall height of 87.75 mm. All of these sizes will cause significant speedometer error. A closer size in 16's is a 205/50, which has a sidewall height of 102.5 mm. Note that the stock Dunlops and Bridgestones are rated A/S.

Yes. With only 0.75 mm difference, that's as good as identical. I would like to see pics of 205s on stock rims. I'm curious as to how the extra 20 mm width looks protruding from the wheels, especially if it's a summer tire which has more vertical sidewalls.

205/50/16 is the closest you will get to matching it up.
they will fit also.
can't find it right now but there is someone on here that
just went to 20/50 and it fits.
from the calculations it is going to be only .4" closer on the inside.

Thanks everyone for the helpful info. Anybody have a recommendation for an all season that will perform very well in the snow? Just from what feedback and info I have gotten about the stock tires, both the Bridgestones and the Dunlops, i am not feeling too confident for winter driving.

Meanwhile, good high-performance Summer tires perform better in both wet and dry conditions than the best A/S tires. So get a set of those for the rest of the year and you'll have the best tires year 'round.
