Exhaust muffler removal
has anyone considered removing the center muffler only?
the only thing i'm trying to accomplish by doing this is
just get a little better sound out of the car.
if i also get some hp out of the deal then so be it.
but i doubt it and even then i wouldn't feel it.

but when you get after market exhaust the resonator is missing
anyway. so how bad could it be?
not trying to start anything but it can't be that loud with stock
muffler in the back. or can it?

It's gonna sound more like you have a broken muffler than anything.. Plus you might want the stock exhaust system in case you part out the car to sell it someday. Or if you have warranty covered problems with something like the o2 sensor or catalytic converter and they blame your exhaust with missing resonator.
PS: lots of aftermarket exhaust systems have a resonator.

Look at the Aero Turbine web site. I will be trying out several of their products soon. Your main interest should be replacing the highly restrictive '09 stock excuse for a muffler.

Replace the muffler in the rear, but keep the resonator (or replace it with aftermarket). If you chuck the resonator completely, the new muffler you just bought will sound like a popcorn machine .

hey niko, didn't mean to come across as offensive.. it was not intentional. it's just that i have made many mistakes in the past when it comes to exhaust mods and i hate for somebody else to make the same mistakes i made!

don't worry niko nobody thinks you're trying to start anything. the resonator usually "cleans up" the exhaust note in my opinion, or "refines" it. you're right; some aftermarket cat-back exhausts do delete the resonator (like j's racing's if i remember right), but most others do include an aftermarket resonator. One's without a resonator tend to be extremely loud, raw, and ear-popping. or just plain farty with such a teeny honda motor.

My car currently is running a megan axle back and no resonator and actually sounds very good. It isn't very loud at all and has a very nice deep tone to it.
The megan axle back also has a bigger muffler than stock tho.
So I guess not everything will sound as ricey or fart canish without the resonator as they are saying. I would go here https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...os-inside.html and check out the exhaust clips people have made mine is in there and I believe there are others in there that are running no resonator.
