Finally, first sunny weekend since I bought my Fit

Time for a wash and pics. Unfortunately, I was running out of sunlight so I could only take a few pics.

Lots of room for the boys:

My other car:

I also decided to change the oil filter a few days ago. I did the "hard break-in method" with this car, but held off changing the oil since Honda recommends keeping the original oil until the oil minder goes down to around 15%. So I figured changing the filter would be a good compromise. Right now the car has about 550km on it.

Changing the oil and filter is extremely easy. The tough part is getting the car onto jack stands. The front jack point is pretty far back. My jack was barely able to reach it. Rear jack point is easy to get to, luckily.

This is a photo of the front jack point.

I haven't seen any pics of the 09 in BBP yet, yours must be one of the first if not THE first. You just could not wait to change something out, could you??? Boy it must be hard to switch from a Beemer to a Fit.

p.s. Nice looking dogs you have there!

Love that color!

Which backseat cover is that for the dogs? I've been looking for something that fits perfectly..

That is a cargo cover from Hatchbag. (https://www.hatchbag.com/~hatchbag/suvcargoliner_hatchbag.php)

It was for my '02 Honda CR-V, which was my previous dogmobile. I bought it this past summer, but never got around to install it. Then I decided to sell the CR-V and buy a Fit. The cargo cover doesn't really fit very well, but it works well enough for now. The company makes a version for the previous generation Fit, but not for the '09 yet. I am hoping that they will eventually make one for our cars.

Nice cars. Maybe I missed something but why do you take pictures with the hood open partially? Is the oil filter as easy to change on your M5 as it was on my 325i? Mine was right near the front of the engine bay above everything.

How long is your floor jack? I wonder what kind of a floor jack is necessary to get to the front jacking point.

Well, I'd like to say that it's the hot new thing around here. But it was just a mistake. I was planning on detailing the engine, but ran out of time and I forgot to completely close the hood. Didn't realize it until I saw the pictures and thought, "WTF is going on with the hood?" until I remembered that I forgot to close it.

The oil filter on the M5 is also in the engine bay, so it is super easy to change. Downside of the M is that it is tricky to get up on jackstands to work underneath, since it has no rear jack point.

My jack is an AC Hydraulic DK13HLQ. It is about 33" from the jack pad to the base of the handle, and I had to slide it further than that so that the handle had to be almost fully lowered. So it is probably about 35" from the edge of the bumper to the jack point.

The DK13HLQ is an expensive jack, but well worth it. I have had it for about 6+ years, and have used it on some pretty low cars, although I still have to drive up on some 12x2 boards.
