H&R Sport Springs available

TireRack.com has H&R Sport Springs available for '09 Fit Sport. I already ordered a set. They're supposed to ship this week.

Curiously, they're the same part number (51830) as the '07-'08. I checked H&R's website and verified that this is recommended fitment for '09 Fit.

I'm a little concerned about spring rates given the increased front axle weight bias and increased spring travel. I'll let y'all know once they're installed.

I've been a VW guy for years. I've had great luck with H&R on a number of cars. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they won't let me down this time.

good luck, but supposedly the GD rear spring rates are way to high for the GE8 chassis

Hmmmm...I was actually more concerned about the front spring rates.

Based on the numbers that I've seen, rear weight is essentially unchanged. Almost all of the additional weight is over the front axle. The additional .3" of front lowering is only going to increase the front weight bias...

Well, springs are only a temporary measure for me until full coilovers are available anyway. I need to get the suspension height set correctly in order to custom fit wheels.

As I said, I'll provide updates after install.

The weight of the rear chassis doesn't have anything to do with it. The rear chassis is reenforced on the GE, and will probably be too stiff. Also keep in mind the GE has a rear sway bar where as tuners who built springs for the GD were tuning a car that didn't have one. Installing GD springs on a GE has bad idea written all over it.

I confirmed with John at H&R Springs that part number 51830 is NOT correct fitment for the 09 GE. He was very helpful. Apparentlyly, the R&D guys weren't talking to the sales and marketing guys.

I refused the shipment from Tirerack and they're crediting my account.

So...contrary to my initial post, H&R springs are not available. In fact, they're not even in R&D yet.
