Believe it or not, I liked the sales guy. I think first time in my life LOL

I don't know if I offered too much, the dealership was keen to reduce inventory, or the sales guy sized me up as someone who would not negotiate, but it took them all of five minutes to accept my first (and truly would have been last) offer.

The only thing they tried to push at all (and that pretty gently) was the finance offers HMC was giving. I don't know how the final price would have changed if I had financed.

I was just offered $16,800 for a new 2013 Honda Fit Sport from Carson Honda here in So.Cal. It seems like this isn't a very good deal compared to what everyone else is getting. This didn't include TTL. Does everyone agree? They still have 5 2013's available.

Don't take that offer!!! Shop around with other dealers. With an A/T, that's at least $1,000 more than what others have been paying!!!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. The girlfriend and I have decided that the Fit is the right car for us, but looks like we might have to go with a used one. Surprisingly there are a lot of salvage title cars here in SoCal that are several thousand dollars less. Yesterday we looked at a 2011 for $10,990 that drove great.

REbuilders and salvage outfits make a good living by restoring these cars. Initial cost may be cheaper than a "clean" car but just remember that the "salvage" title will remain with it forever. Down the road, unloading it may be a pain in the pocket.
$10k is a pretty large budget and am sure you can score a "clean" 2011 or 2012 as long as you take your time and invest in searching around SoCal. Many nice cars out there.
Only a few more weeks (months) and there'll be the first couple of 000 GK's on the road. Once that happens, the GE's will go through a downward price adjustment - therefore, you have time working for you. Take advantage of this!!!
Happy shopping and post pics of what you decide to get!!!

We aren't really the type of people who unload a car. I want this car to go 200,000+ miles. At that point we will probably just get rid of it for nothing. The 2002 Civic we are selling has 202k miles and we just want to sell it before it starts to break down and become a monthly bill. My Mazdaspeed Protege has 100k and should be good for that much more.

You're right that there will probably be more downward pressure as the 2015's are arriving. I just wish that we had the time to take advantage of it. We are selling the house and probably moving across the country. We need a car that will make the trip without giving us any problems.

My new color of choice - White!!! IMO, the best color for where I live.
Did you really have to include the GF in the pic??? Now I can't really critique the vehicle's imperfections cause the person in front is too perfect!!!!
Nice low-mileage Fit. Can't go wrong with that!!!
Congrats and enjoy them both!!!

I knew I wanted white before I ever starting looking at the Fits in person. It's just so clean and sexy! Btw, I showed her your comment and it put a big smile on her face.

She then decided you were lying because she didn't do anything with her hair in that picture so she must look awful and you must be teasing her.

...and then she decided that maybe it doesn't look that bad in the picture and you were being truthful.

I just had to share. This was at my local dealer on all the 2013 Fits. Outrageous gouging on a $39 item for the unwary customer.

Well the actual MSRP of the 2013 Wheel Locks is $59.00

That's what happens when the buyer(s) are uninformed unfortunately- but that's why dealership's General Manager's etc. can sell a car- like they would for me at dealer cost less incentives and holdback- since they know they still will make PROFITS during the month/year from selling cars to people who don't know pricing and just want to get into dealership wanting a car now- and if they fall further into the dealerships trap (actually a trap that the buyer has to blame for as well)- meaning they are enticed by making a purchased based on the "monthly payment" and not the true cost.

But- it is so wrong to ask for $179.00 on the dealer added sticker when the freakin' MSRP is $120.00 less! And even at $59.00 they are still making MONEY!

The last of the '13s price ?

Well...I thought the new Honda offers that came out last week would be much sweeter.
The quotes I have received over the weekend have been about $1000 off a Sport and $600 off a base.
I have to wait a couple more weeks and wonder if anyone has gotten a better deal.

2013 base blue

Good deal or? 2013 fit 3miles
Vehicle= $15676
4 year registration = $273
Reg. handling fee= $75

Trade in = car died and I took it to dealer. Trade in value was no fee for diagnosis ($350 ish...can't remember true $)1998 accord lx v6 157k fair condition needed distributor and crank seal $865 (at least). Or (best fix) distributor and new timing belt $1800 ish. I was told car had "no spark" and would need to be towed if I chose not to have repairs done. When I returned to dealership 3 days later to remove belongings car started right up. I was told "mechanic did a things to be able to move it out of garage but it would be necessary to fix issues before they put car up for auction".

Ummm dealers "FIX" cars before auctioning them? Wow that's honest! I call bologna! To bad paperwork was signed.

So Did I get screwed on trade in? or am I a whiny chick who got a decent deal overall?

If you were a mechanic you could have done better but you're not.
We all have to pay retail for something in this life. I'm saying that you bought a high quality car and got it at a good price, but the dealer took your trade that needed a few thousand to come back to life. Find another repair shop. You're not going to need one for a long time.

I recently purchased an 09 sport auto with nav which has 28,000 miles for $12700. I bought it from a private seller. I'm sure I could have offered a little less but I still think it's a good deal. I was tempted to wait for the 2015 but this was much cheaper.
