How much did you pay for your Fit?
#41
I got a fantastic deal on my new 2009 Fit Base with Auto Trans.
That was from the e-mail the dealer sent me. And that is in fact exactly what I paid. No dealer games, no hidden charges. And yes, I got the center armrest thrown in for no charge.
How did I get that deal? I was referred by carbuyingtips.com to Drive Your Dream | Car Buying Home Page.
I was hesitant about the Drive Your Dream site but the most risk I had to make was giving them my contact information and potentially getting more junk mail and spam. I already get that so what is a little more, right? The site gave me their pricing before even giving them my info. The price was just want you see above less the armrest. I had multiple dealers contact me and 1 of them upped the other one to get the sale with the addition of the armrest. Upon getting to the dealer, I found that the car also had the door edge guards, wheel well guards, pinstriping and paint protectant already installed as well. Again, no extra charge. The funny part was that they has list price on those guards and pinstriping at $2000!!! The dealer also hooked me up with better financing than my credit union. Almost 1.5% better actually. I got a 4.59% rate through a major bank.
Needless to say I am extatic about all this. Great price, great car. After reading carbuyingtips.com, I cringe at some of the posts reporting people were buying $500 paint protectant and dealers saying that certain group discount programs didn't apply to the Fits when they got the dealer. Those people got taken big time but I guess all that matters is that they are happy.

Awesome! Congratulations on your new Fit. Would you tell us what this "$ 499.00 Delivery Charges" is about. That strikes me as total BS as the factory $670 delivery charge is already applied to the car on the window sticker. Please let us know. Thanks. DK

That is typical BS dealer markup for profit. I knew I was going to have to pay for that when I got the price. I didn't have a problem with that because I knew what their actual cost was for the car including factory holdbacks. Even with the $499 dealer fee, they still only made about 4-5% profit from me. They do have to make money which I have no problem with. I just refuse to get screwed for thinks like door guards and pinstripes that cost $2000.

Indeed! I love the car for it's functionality more than it's looks. It is a departure to anything else I have driven as far as the external looks go. It is different but I still love it. My wife tells me it looks like a UFO. But she still wants to drive it so I know she is just jealous.

Paid $15724 + tax and fees for base AT MSRP $16220.
The trick is to find two dealers in your area who each claim they will beat any reasonable offer, then ruthlessless pit them against one another in an elaborate game of chicken. Thats what I did.

Bought yesterday for wife
SSM Sport Auto $16,779, Doc fee $55, Lic/reg $204.76, Tax $1304.60, Total OTD $18,343.36. Have a 700 mile trip coming up at the weekend will give my driving impressions when we return. Based on the 30 miles driven so far, I like it. Currently deciding which "essentials" to order from Bernadi.

Pulled the trigger on Friday!
Been wanting one since last Summer with $4 gallon gas but held off until they were more available. I live in Northern New Mexico, not much competition so haven't bought too many cars in this state but due to the economy you can now find good deals even here.
One of the bigger dealers in ABQ, NM had a %1 over (true) dealer invoice sale on on in-stock Hondas.
I was able to get my 2009 Fit Sport MT Taffeta White (a Unicorn!) for only $16324 + TTL
I am ordering Mats, Pedals and license plate bracket from HandA Honda today!

2009 Honda Fit Sport A/T, Taffy White, with wheel locks, rear tray, adhesive bumper protector at the hatch, painted pin stripe and tinted windows. Had 190 miles on it. Bought on ebay from Denton Texas dealer. $16,750 shipped. $15,900 for car, 800 shipping to Meridian ID, and $50 doc fee. Not a scratch, paint chip, nothing. Arrived perfect. I'm so stoked!

Nice to meet the guy who beat me to it. I am somewhat surprised you could not find a new one for the same money locally for what you paid with the shipping from Denton to Idaho. Enjoy your Fit

I am enjoying this car probably more than any other and I have had over 100 cars in my lifetime. This is my 9th Honda, N360, N600, S800, 2 Civic station wagons, Civic LX sedan, 2007 Civic Si, 2007 Pilot EX-L (still own it) and this gem of a car. I have been a big Honda fan for a long, long time. I was pissed they never brought the Honda City over to the US but the time was just not right I guess.
Up here the dealer (stealers) are starting out at $2500 over sticker and then maybe settling on sticker if you point out to them that they advertise on the net MSRP price. So the best you can do is MSRP.
This car was way under invoice and even with the shipping and doc fee of $50 it was a terrific deal. Plus it had tint, locks, mat, pinstripe and bumper trim. Probably about a $500 value. And it was in the color I wanted which the dealer here wanted to charge me $400 to ship from Salt Lake City. No brainer.
I hope to keep this baby for a long, long time. Already ordered over $600 in options and upgrades.

Congratulations on your new Fit. Is the "destination" you are referring to, actually the factory $670 destination charge on the window sticker? Can we interpret the cost of your Fit in another way, namely $18,580 + TT&L? Please let us know.

$16356 for Fit Sport, manual transmission ($1 over invoice, $634 off sticker). Add to that dealer fee ($279), tax and registration. Out the door $17,633. Dealer threw in free wheel locks, purchased other accessories on-line to save almost 25% net off dealer prices.
