Fit vs RSX-S

I've been waiting for a Fit Sport MT in Tafetta White for quite a while. It has a build date of 10/27 so it's due to arrive very soon. I still had never driven a Fit Sport with MT, so I went and test drove one (different color) at the dealer today. The Fit was everything I expected. I think I'd be really happy with it. Having said that, what caught my eye was an 02 RSX-S black w/ black leather with only 20,000 miles for $15,900. Tempting...

2 different cars from 2 different classes. what do you need the car for? that might help your decision.

An RSX-S would require premium, yes - gas mileage wouldn't be too far off though, as I average 29mpg in my 2006 RSX-S. Insurance would probably cost a lot more for the RSX - Black paint is a PITA - Black interior will be super hot in the summer - and you wouldn't be able to carry as much stuff or people in the RSX. On the other hand, depending on how and where you like to drive, the RSX may be more fun.

My buddy works at Acura, and he advised against getting an RSX 'cause apparently they weren't built to the same quality as the old integras. As for the specifics of difference in quality I'm not sure but that's all I know. When I was shopping for a car I saw a few RSX Type-S's for damn cheap, so that kind of makes you wonder why a car of that "calibre" would be going for so cheap.

Like nghtrydr23 said, they're 2 VERY different cars, so decide if you want a practical car or a significantly faster car (i'd say fun but the fit has proven to be more fun than you might think). Having said that, if you do choose the latter, I would recommend looking into an integra type-R instead of an RSX type-S....the type R's are an amazing car and in my books still one of the best acura's ever made.

God those were horrible cars. Hey at leasts it's crazy brother the CTS (Catera Touring Sedan) hit the mark.

I was torn between the two as well. I opted for a car that no one else had owned, had no miles on it, was more practical for everyday use.

do you want to be the first person to fart on the seat, or do you want someone else to have already taken the opportunity?

I owned the Fit before the RSX S, if I could do it again, I would have kept the Fit.. its just as fun to drive in the bends where the RSX is obviously quicker in a straight line. Plus.. you have room to grow in the Fit where you don't really have that in the RSX.. also, in my 02 type S I average 27mpg in premium.. I dunno how you get 29mpg unless you drive like a grandma

both are great cars, you can't go wrong with a Honda.
If you have kids or have a fat girlfriend, get the fit.
If you are single, i'd get the rsx-s with the extended warranty

I thought about it last night over several pours of George Dickel. RSX-S would be a blast but it's probably not what I need.

Yes, the RSX-S was just an impulsive thing. Even though I didn't act on the impulse... I live in the Pacific NW where it rains half the year and pollen is a huge problem the other half—keeping it clean would be impossible.

When I test drove the Fit Sport MT, I was surprised at how slow it was. I knew it was going to be slow but I guess it'll just take getting used to. I currently have an 06 Accord V6 with a 6 speed manual. Before I had my beloved 99 Civic SI that wsas stolen... Handling will probably be much better with the Fit. I just think I'm going to miss the pick up.

Ultimately, I think I'll love my TW Sport MT.

Thanks to everyone for all the input. BTW, what's with the 'rep power'? How do you give rep points?

I can tell you that both cars are great, however, that depends what you want and for how long. Yes the fit will be slower but the trade off is the room, fuel efficiency, and a must if you have or plan to have family or haul stuff around. Now The RSX-S Is a fun car if you are single with no kids or have a girlfriend for fun.

I'm single and own a Fit LOL. It's nice to have lots of room, be hip, and have a tuner market. Honda > Scion/Toyota. Plus with the fold-flat seats and nothing in the way, I can sleep, or have crazysex back there 5,000mi and still haven't christened the car yet haha

Good luck in christening the car!

I'm going with the Fit! It came into the dealer today. It's supposed to be ready on Monday! Unfortunately, I'm out of town...
