New '09 Fit Sport Auto Owner
I bought a BP '09 Fit Sport Auto last week from Tempe Honda. My interest in the Fit was to get a practical, safe, enjoyable car to commute in, and cut my car costs. The Fit will replace two cars that I'm just not driving, my '98 BMW M3 sedan, and my '70 Porsche 914. We also have 2003 Porsche Boxster and a 2004 Toyota Sienna.
Up until early last year, we had just three cars, my 914, the M3, and the Sienna. The 914 went in for an engine rebuiild in '06, and it took so long, that I got the itch for something new and I bought the Boxster. Well, the Boxster turned out to be what I was looking for in a sports car, so much so that I quit driving the M3 and when I got the 914 back, I didn't drive it either. However, driving the Boxster to work was putting too many miles on it, it uses premium gas, and it only gets about 21 MPG on my commute, leading to me eventually buying the Fit.
So far, I couldn't be happier. The Fit is fun to drive, looks great, and is extremely practical. I've got nearly 900 miles on it already, I took it on a 350 mile trip, it did great. Now that I'm out of the initial 600 mile break-in, I'm looking forward to driving it a bit harder.

Congrats and welcome!
Nice story. I love the M3 and Boxster, 2 of my favorite cars.
I too came from a 21 mpg car, which is one of the reasons I decided to switch to the Fit. Now my average jumped from 21 to 34/35. This week, for the first time, I shut off my FE meter (which has been causing me to drive in FE mode) and now I'm driving the Fit for fun, whenever circumstances allow. It's really fun, charging up through the gears and knowing still that you're getting high FE. It's similar to my dearly departed Integras and RSX, only much much slower. The Fit is my 2nd best car I've owned next to my Integra GS-R.

Congrats. I also have an auto Sport. I was ready to buy a base Fit, but purely based on the safety angle, opted for a Sport since it was the only way to get VSA. Having driven stability control-equipped cars at a track event and on a skidpad, I am convinced it's the bees' knees. No way I'd shell out the cash for a brand new car without it. I did get shafted into getting nav to get it, of course...

My Fit's totally generic, so posting a pic of it right now would be boring! I'll have to take a group shot before I unload my M3 and 914.
Here's a shot of my 914 and M3 together:
I'll post a shot of the Boxster and 914 together later (interesting contrast). Maybe I'll do a group shot with the Fit this week. Won't be tonight, I'm going over to Bondurant this evening to do a 3 hour shifter cart school!

Welcome!
I got my 09 TW Sport from Tempe Honda just a couple weeks ago! I remember seeing the BP one there but passed on it since I'm done with dark colored cars in Phoenix. Just think, I could have taken it from you! Mwahaha!
I've already got 1200mi on mine. Uber fun to drive!

Trogdor - when I went in to buy it, there was another person there who came in after me who wanted the BP one, too. Too late!
BTW, I'm catching up to you in mileage. I haven't driven my Boxster once since I got my Fit two weeks ago.
TW's a popular color for AZ Fit's, there were a bunch of them at Tempe Honda, as well as the silver metallic.
Did they try to sell you the $4K of "extras" at financing (e.g. extended warranty, glass etching, dealer-added "advanced" security system, etc.. etc.)? Seems to happen at every dealer these days. They always seem shocked when you say, "no". Their "pro package" (tint, mud guards, metal door edge protectors) for $950 (!!) was also another profit center. Of course, when I showed them that you couldn't put mud guards on the Sport, and that it already had the clear door guards ($38), I was just left with tint, which I wanted anyway (though I could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere). I only wish I'd skipped on getting carpet mats from them, I could have gotten them a lot cheaper from H & A online.

When I was in, they only had TW, BP, and BSP in Sport Auto. I would have liked to get OR, but they said I would have to order one. I've seen a LOT of SSMs and TBMs around, but not too many TWs, so that's another reason why I went with the color I did.
They didn't give me too much of a runaround with pricing. I went in with my 07 NHBP Sport Auto and was just curious to see what kind of deal I could get on a trade-in. I made myself perfectly clear that i was happy with my car, but that I liked the 09s better. I left the first day without reaching any kinda of agreement. Someone called every day during the next week with different offers and reduced prices.
In the end, I told them exactly how much I'd be willing to finance and they came within $500 so I took the deal. I found out it's a LOT easier playing hardball when you make them think you like the car but don't need it.

Very interesting; I continue to read about owners of upscale/faster cars gravitating towards Fits. In my case I will be giving up an Evo IX, somewhat reluctantly, for a Fit. I'm predisposed to say that I love it already but will post regardless once the little OR beauty is in my hands...

For me, the Fit is the ultimate practical car. Fun to drive, comfortable, plenty of cargo room, great looking exterior, can park it anywhere, great MPG. Sure, it's not "fast", but then that's what my GSXR's for!
