Waiting for my new Fit!!!
Gave the dealer $500 to order a new 2009 Fit on October 3, 2008. I wanted the sport w/o navi in Blue Sensation Pearl. I also wanted an MT. Well, the dealer told me none are to be found in the entire Northeast US. I suggested to him that I order one just the way I want it from the factory in Japan. So, I did! They say good things come to those who wait. Do you know how long? The dealer said 8-10 weeks. That puts delivery at around December 15th at the latest. Needless to say, although my current car still runs well, I am jumping up and down in anticipation!

I gave my deposit a few days before you, I was first told 6-8 weeks, now I'm told atleast 8 weeks more.
I think its the MT's. I got the Nav, with MT. If I'd wanted the Nav Automatic I could have driven one off the lot same day. But I hate the Automatics, and worse those paddles, I can't get used to them.

I feel for you. I ordered mine in August with a delivery date of Oct 15th. Luckily, one became available about 3 weeks early. I was borrowing a car and would never had made it The stress proved too much for me.

Yup, MT fits are tough to find. I live in Michigan, and was told there would be none in the Midwest for the foreseeable future. I finally found one in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I flew down a few weeks ago, picked it up and drove it home.
Believe it or not, the Fit is so much cheaper to own than my old car (an Acura RSX Type-S) that picking the car up in Florida cost me a lot less than keeping my Acura on the road for the 2-3 months it would have taken to get a Fit from the factory.
The most amusing thing was all the dealers in Michigan who tried to convince me to buy an automatic. "Yeah, but the automatic with the paddle shifters is just like having a stick shift."
Please.

waiting almost over
I put a $500.00 deposit on a 2008 Storm Silver Metalic AT Sport back on 7/14/08 but the dealer was not able to find one for me. After reading about the improvements coming in the '09 models, I told them to hang on to my deposit and order the '09 Sport for me. I was notified that the car was shipped from Japan and should be arriving at the dealer's between Nov. 2-8th. I am getting very anxious, it's my very first car purchase! My late husband always chose our cars and payed for them, and kept them in good repair. My Jeep was about ready to bite the dust so I've been forced to look around for a good vehicle that was in my price range and would last for a long time. I am so grateful to have found this site, I've learned so much about what to look for and how to purchase a car. My kids and grandkids are so impressed! Thanks everyone!!
