The Webasto product is the best out there....

I have a 2000 ranger that i put a power sunroof in...its still perfect..never any leaks..the truck is outside all the time...hundreds of car washes...the shop i used was in oxnard california..they installed sunroofs for all the dealers....it took a couple of days but the end result was a sunroof that looked like it came from the factory...

i paid just under 900.00 back in 2001 the shop gave me a lifetime warranty on leaks...this was the 2nd greatest mod to my truck after my new bluetooth stereo

prior to the install i got to see a rundown of how they install the sunroof and was very impressed

So if there is a webasto product out there for the fit..cant go wrong....

only negative..for about a month there was a glue like smell..little by little it went a way....

What's the leak guarantee? Does it decrease structural integrity? How long does it take to install?
"I don't know much about that. You'll have to talk to Buddy. You can call him later".

I'll call another shop and see if they're more interested in doing the job.

^^^ Sounds like a good review to me. I was also reading I believe the Sema links, and they also said its the best aftermarket sunroof, one person even said that it was better than the factory... Sounds like I gotta get one too.

Could it have been the glue from re-attaching the fabric to the roof?
Still, just a minor inconvenience.

Its possible to buy the assembly from Japan... I asked for the price when i was in Japan a year ago (Apr 2009) and the parts excl tax is around USD9800... if you ask me, just install 2 Webasto sunroof instead, or get their new extended sunroof. its much cheaper and it opens =\

Now you guys have me thinking that I need one too.

Webasto's site shows two different models installed on an '08 fit. Not a GE, but close enough to visualize what it really looks like.

I did an aftermarket one on my Toyota, and it was never the same. Squeaked, rattled and just a pain. Such a pain I sold the car.

as someone who lives in the Sacramento Valley, I would never buy any car with a sky roof unless it has a opaque covering (no screen mesh). with average temperatures in the 90's and 100's with constant sunshine, the Fit would be an oven. If you thought the AC is crappy now, wait until it has to cool what would be a true green house. And imagine if your fit is black and non tinted windows.

9800 seems awfully high. I didn't opt for it on mine because I have never been a fan of sunroofs or the like, hell even my Snisen pretty much always had the vert up and I was going to go Amuse hardtop if I did bring it to Japan. Anyways, the price of my Fit would of went up I believe about ¥40,000 more, but I wouldn't of had the option of getting VSA. And without VSA the car would of cost about ¥90,000 less than it did. So looking at those 2 prices it should cost about ¥130,000 or at current exchange $1460. Granted parts cost more when they are purchased afterwards from the dealer, but I can't imagine a markup that much, that's just insane really.

Yeah, ok I was thinking somewhere between 1k and 2k. If that's the case, that's doable and would be worth it for me. How hard do you think it would be to get the parts from Japan shipped?

A skyroof that does not open would not appeal to me. The best feature of a moonroof is letting in the fresh air from outside. There is so much glass on the Fit I don't need more of it. Plus as others have said that would add a lot of weight to the top of the car and would affect its nimble handling. I'll pass.

I also would not let anyone cut into my roof to install an aftermarket moonroof. I know some people have done it no problems, but I would not want to void my manufacture's warranty, nor would I want to take the chance of compromising the structural integrity of the car. I would have liked it if Honda offered a basic moonroof as an option however.

Can anyone confirm that the skyroof is made out of glass? Because I don't think it is. I think its made of a lighterweight material that has more structural integrity than glass. I could be wrong though.

Was your sunroof a Webasto and how much did you pay for your install?

I've been hearing such mixed things about after market sunroofs; half the people love them, half the people hate them.

I've been thinking about installing a Webasto 700 series sunroof in my 07 Fit but I am worried about leaks and rattles over time.

Well after 16000 miles with the Webasto Panoramic roof, still no leaks, but some creaks. Honestly:
If I had the choice to make knowing what I do now, I would not do it.
I would probably have bought a different car that offered a factory roof in the first place.
That being said, I do enjoy the open roof very much, it's open most days. I don't regret it.

About the only thing I wish I could add to my Fit is a moonroof.

But I just don't know how I feel about cutting a big hole in a new car. I have all the concerns. Leaks, Noise but mostly structural stability.

I think I'm just going to live with it "as is" then maybe in a few years when I start to get bored look at taking the gamble. But on a nice new shiny vehicle...just can't bring myself to have someone cut it open and install....

That is exactly how I feel. Plus, I'd like to hear more from Fit owners that have had an aftermarket sunroof in their car for over 2 years. I keep finding people that have installed them and raved about them, but have only owned them for a few months.

that looks great. Unfortunately I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Or that can add to my car loan. ^_^
