RE: 2009 Fit – New Model Newsletter - Fuse

Print this iN message, and provide a copy to the Shop Foreman and all PDI Technicians.

Listed below are a few service hints that will help resolve some recently discovered issues. As new items are found, we will include them in future 2009 Fit Newsletters.

Dash rattles are the second highest ranking warranty problem for the 2009 Fit. Following our tips for removing the fuse panel lid and the driver’s lower cover assembly when installing the new back up fuse during the PDI can help prevent this problem.

Fuse Panel Lid

To remove the fuse panel lid, click here to view the procedure.

Back up Fuse

When completing the back-up fuse installation procedure, (Page 2 of HSB 08-065: 2009 Fit PDI) verify that the new back up fuse (10A) is fully seated in the fuse box, click here to view image.
There have been warranty claims and Tech Line contacts for electrical problems because this fuse was not installed properly. When the fuse loses connection, the keyless remotes, interior lights and radio are inoperative.

Driver’s Lower Cover Assembly

After completing the back up fuse installation procedure, inspect the mounting position of the drivers’ lower cover assembly, click here to view image. If a support pin has come out of its holder, reinstall the cover correctly. To install the Drivers Lower Cover, click here to view the procedure.

Antenna Mast

The antenna mast is installed on the car and tested at the factory. Prior to leaving the factory, it is removed and placed in the glove box for protection during shipment to your dealership. When the car arrives at the dealership, check the glove box to verify that you received the antenna. If it’s missing, write it down on a transportation claim.
HDS Software

The latest HDS software version is 2.015.018, check to see if your HDS needs to be updated.

Wow. Didn't expect a TSB on the 09s so fast. But mine had/has a few rattles, which I reduced to about 2 or so noises from the dash area.

Those links don't work for me. Help?

Good news for me though, if I give up and decide to give it to the dealer to fix. My rattles are very minor though especially since I'm so sensitive to any noises right now, thanks to my 08 Accord.

Thanks for loading those pics! +1 rep for you.

Hmm...I know about the driver's side panel. When I got the car new it was making noise and I figured out what was causing it - those prongs weren't in their sockets.

But my remaining rattles are on the passenger side, somewhere around the glove box, and then the wires behind the radio. I can move those noisy wires around, but I can't really secure them, so I'll try something else or maybe they'll quiet themselves eventually.

Kingofpicklez, what do u mean by super loud bass? I had an 08 Accord Coupe 6MT.

Yeah, good info but I think "RECALL!!! OMGWTFBBQ!!" is a bit overstating the situation.

OK, maybe I exaggerated it a little teeny bit. ;-)

Yeah, can you imagine? That's what I thought when I read "Recall". All the reviews on the '09 Fit have raved about the car, most of us fell totally in love with it THEN we find out its a lemon? That would kind of be ironic in a twisted way...

Yeah, scary. But I knew the OP meant TSB.

BTW, what's wrong with falling in love with a lemon? You can make lemonade with them.

Especially if they are sugar-coated.

Have you tried bundling them with some cable ties?

....or you can be smart and trade them in after just 4 years of ownership, as per my Zoom Zoom.

Yes - if you look inside the door panels or behind the removable panels, you'll see lots of foam and wire-ties to prevent rattling. So, if your adding a wire or two, best to be paranoid and wire-tie and tape and foam the h3ll outta that sucker.

Great suggestion. Now all I need to know is where to pick one up. Home Depot? Target? Or the Honda dealership for $19.47 for 1?

I have some twist ties. I'll try that. But good suggestion.
