USB Port to Charge cell phone, etc

Works with Blackberry 8310 and 8900 (AT&T). I bought long USB cables, cut a hole the size of the small connector in the upper glove box, and ran it through the dash to pop up next to the passenger seat so I can put my phone in the slots next tot he emerg. brake handle. I don't have any issue with EDGE chatter in the car.
The USB port Charges the phone and I can play the music I have on the device.
Tried a Bold, for some reason could not get music to load.

I have a palm centro and it does not charge via the usb port in the car. It does on a laptop but only if the driver is loaded. I believe it does not charge in the car because the driver is not being loaded to initialize it. A blackberry should be able to play songs over usb because when connected it asks about being connected using mass storage mode. This allows the phone to act like a usb storage device like any thumbdrive or ipod. The key is mass storage mode. I heard that android also does something similar in that case would also work sending saved music on the sd card through the stereo. Hope this helps.
