09 Fit price increases 3% on Jan 1st?

So a salesguy calls me today to see if I'm interested buying a fit soon. I didn't have my phone on, but he left a message. He said something, like I should try to buy before the end of the year, because whenever a new year starts, Honda raises their prices by 3%. Is this guy just talking BS or what? On a side note, my house is off the market and we've decided to not try and move for a few years, so I'll be looking to put a deposit on a Blue Sensation AT w/ Navi in the next few weeks! This dealer told me a few weeks ago that they mark up the Fit $995, but I told him that another nearby dealer doesn't charge over MSRP...ever, and he told me he could get me one for MSRP and throw in a few accessories. They'll quickly change their tune when you mention competition!

I say BS. Call him on it. Ask another dealer if prices are increasing.

How can Honda raise their prices 4 months into a model year? In fact the 09 are out in 08 so it's not even in the 09 model year yet. I would think that when they come out with 09 at a certain price that's the price for the 09 model year. It's hard to believe that they would change the price until the 2010 models come out.

If the US dollar continues lose value the price will surely go up.

Actually, US dollar has gone up for the last week due to shortage of US currency in circulation.

BS, they will raise prices next year, but not in January but in Sept/Oct when they release the 2010 model. I would not buy from this dealer.

Toyota raised their prices in the middle of a model year $500. It looks like Honda resisted price hikes earlier in the year when they were facing higher steel prices.

Honda Motor sees higher steel prices but won't hike prices on existing cars - Forbes.com

my friend's dealership (Norm Reeves Huntington Beach) doesn't do bullshiet markups, but I didn't really have a choice back in august when I was waiting and waiting and waiting, and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted my TW Sport MT GE... So yea, I paid the markup, but it was 1/2 of what they were really asking for and begged for goodies (lower apr, lifetime lowjack upgrade, upgraded warranty, and all the usual goodies-rear applique, trunk tray thingy, mats, etc...) but if I would've settled for black or any other color, I could've just gone thru my friend; EDGAR!!! so yea, it just depends on the situation i guess!
