Regrets about buying Fit because of stiff ride?

After test driving the fit, I noticed the ride a bit stiff. I'm used to a softer ride. I'm wondering if I'll get used to it and it won't bother me so much.

Anybody notice it initally but after a while turn out that the ride is okay to you? Can peeps post their experiences please?

I noticed the stiffness on the test drive. There are areas where I drive where it is more noticable. I had an 07 fit and the ride was not as stiff, but not as comfortable. Overall, I am getting used to it and I don't notice so much anymore.

I definitely don't regret buying my 09.

what did you drive before your 07 Fit? How did its ride compare to the Fits?

Yeah I notice the ride was stiff too compare to the 06 Civic that I drove but I'm used to the way it is now. I don't know about the new fits because I have an '08 but if you have a bad back, I would say fit is not the car you should be driving long or short trips. I notice the seats is not as comfortable as the other cars that I drove.

A Ford F150 and a Plymouth Voyager

Not very good points of reference.

That said, I've had many different cars (25 at last count), none really anything sporty, and the Fit was a new kind of feel for me. I like the 07 and the 09 even more than any other car I've had.

I don't mind the stiffness really. It kind of reminds me of my old '85 RX-7, only wimpier.

Your fav car so far, wow! thanks for sharing. I'd hate to buy the car and then regret it

So why then are all the auto mag reviewers reporting on a softer more comfy ride? Last weekend I drove an 08 and I didn't notice much ride difference either. Some other reviews say the 09s turn in sharper. I disagree with this also.

Take it on another test drive, this time take a longer test drive. Drive it on the highway, on streets, slow, fast, keep it out for an hour or even 2. If you go during a very busy time, the sales guy might just give you the keys and let you go! You DO NOT want to buy a car and then trade it back in a couple of weeks later. You get hammered all the way around in that case. Just take your time, if the Fit isn't for you, then so be it.

If you want a harsh ride, see if you can find a Scion xA to drive. I have never felt a harsher ride. One small ridge across the road was jarring as heck. every bump felt like I had no shocks or struts but was just riding on the frame. Awful.

Do you not feel any difference, or just not much? I wouldn't necessarily say it's softer, but it is much more comfortable IMO. I'm sure part of that is driver position and better seats.

The GE may be a little more composed over bumps but you feel just as many bumps with the same bump impact harshness.

That said I'll take the GD steering over the GE. The GD has the extra fun factor and a little more connection with the driver.

the 09 suspension feels just right, not too soft and but stiff enough to make it feel "sporty".

Washboard Roads

Biggest thing I have noticed in my new '09 is the poor ride quality on washboard roads (welcome to Wisconsin) - especially in terms of body motion. Probably has a lot more to do with the wheelbase maybe than anything else?

The ride on "rough" roads is just fine as far as I am concerned - it takes the bumps with a typical sports car like feel - but the chassis is very quick to respond and reset itself immediately.

Given smooth roads the chassis is very impressive for a sub $20K car IMHO.

Hell, mine is not even here yet and I am already planning my mods to stiffen the suspension more.
