09 fit manual or auto????

I'm currently driving an EM2 Civic and it's automatic.
To make a long story short, it was my first car and my Mom made me get Auto.
It's been 6 years and the car has been amazing! No problems at all! But, I've always regret getting auto. Now that I'm in the market for a new vehicle... the next one definitely has to be stick... more engine control... and more exciting to drive.

IMO manuals are only really fun when the car has balls behind it. Everyday daily drivers should be auto's, weekend cars should be sticks. I drive ALOT and get sick of driving my Si when I have to drive it alot. I usually get lazy and start shifting 1-3-5-6. Like I drive 500 miles a week and I am so glad 400 of those are in my 1994 Civic auto.
Plus you get paddles in the Fit Auto Sport =D

Tastycakes has the right idea to me..Weekends were made for sticks.
Question?? I came from chiped diesel cars and am used to alot of torque.
when they said 0-60 in 8.3 I could not figure how...Today after some research I put the auto in S and floored it. Slow on take off(no tq) but after about 1/2 second it wound up, to 6700 and shifted and so on. Felt like a 8-8.5 run. Like the honda S2000 likes the upper tach range. Anyone else feel the same?? THUNDER

What I think we all can agree on is every Auto should be a Automatic Manual w/ dual clutches. Why hasn't Honda done this yet??? I mean it has to cost less and is a hell of a lot less complex than a slushbox.
Also for the i-DTEC fans (or w/e its called) The single clutch automanual Honda is trying to spit out to the euro guys will never cut it. Dual clutches are the only way to make shifting an automanual as smooth and as fast as an auto.

I disagree as well, it doesn't matter whether its a sports car or a daily commuter, a manual transmission always provides more tactile feel and control.
IMO auto's are for people who think of their cars as appliances (nothing wrong with that, my family has a few auto's of our own). I however enjoy driving and I don't think I could ever buy a car that was not stick (well maybe in 30-40 years haha)

in my experience, most of the people making excuses like traffic or rpm at cruise are people who dont even know how to drive stick. usually they just justify why they dont have to learn

yup...the only time i will buy an auto is if its the only transmission avail, like on an suv or a luxury car or something

I'll only drive a manual also. I have a sport SSM MT '09 on order that should be arriving this week. I actually do tons of highway driving but I still wouldn't get an automatic. The manual gives you more control and is definitely more fun to drive. I would get bored if I had to drive an automatic all the time.

I'd buy a manual. I have, in my opinion, the best automatic transmission in the world right now with the direct-shift gearbox of my GTI. And yes, it shifts faster than a manual, and gets about 1mpg better, but it's still not the same feeling as rowing through the gears.
