Anyone getting a sport auto for $17580 +tax and title?

Guys,

I have a dealer who really wants to sell me a white 2009 Fit Sport Auto. I honestly like the car, and would love to have it. However, I have a personal dilemma.

I hate markups. I hate fees. I believe MSRP is there FOR A REASON. So the buyer can make fair decisions. I choose not to pay for markups--otherwise they will continue to mark them up.

This guy claims he will give the car to me for MSRP (17580) PLUS a $400 "processing fee". I call that a MARKUP. So, here is the lineup:

17580----MSRP including destination
400----"processing fee"
567----VA state tax (3.1%)
58----VA title and liscense

Total of $18605 out the door. Overall, not bad.

My contention is with the $400 "processing fee." Anyone pay this? Anyone pay a much lower processing fee?

If ANYONE out there has bought or sold a 2009 Fit Sport for $17580, please send me a PM--can you scan the sticker for me so I can email it to this guy??

process fee is markup....
If they're not budging to take that off, go to another dealer.

Yeah I agree.^^^
I paid exactly $17,580 and nothing more for my Non navi, 09 Fit Sport.

That price was at the dealer's MSRP and I didn't negotiate it down, since I really wanted it and every Fit that came in sold like hot cakes. Looking back, maybe I could've convinced him to sell it for flat $17,000...maybe.

I live in Arkansas and there is a state tax when registering your vehicle. It's like $25. I think the title was like $40? I think sales tax is something like 6% - 8% here.

My sales tax total was $1,000.05. It's gonna rape my pocket book when I pay that off, along with insurance and car payments during the same week!

I'm getting my Sport auto at MSRP plus title, tax, and $300 dealer fee. The fee includes registration sticker, transfer of insurance, and filing (Mass. laws require that dealers retain records of sales for seven years).

Sure, $300 for that is probably a couple hundred more than it should be, but dealer fees really aren't negotiable unless you know someone at the dealership. If you "walk" then you're walking into someone else's dealer fee.

DCH Temecula emailed me a quote of 17380 + TTL for an 09 Sport Auto non-nav. We'll see what the price really is when we go in but I bought my 07 there and was very happy with it all.

Ummm, I know people that get those taken off, it sounds a lot more like mark up to me, because registration and transfer of insurance, isn't that tag? processing fee to me sounds like BS..

Processing fee is real... I dont know what it is in VA, but it is also called documentation fee. In CA it is not quite as high as $400... but its a real fee.

Doc and processing fees

If you guys choose to pay it, that's cool. They ARE real fees, but not required by law, dealerships are given the choice..

55 dollars is cool, that's not 4 or 500 dollars, that's ridiculous.

I negotiated for MSRP+wheel locks+TTL on my Fit sport Auto with Navi. There was a $50 document fee that I was okay with. I had called several other dealers, many would just come straight out and say there was a "market adjustment" anywhere from $1500 to $3000! While I was waiting, a deal fell through at another dealership and he was able to get the same car I ordered. They had already added tint, wheel locks, mats "nitrogen" in the tires cargo tray and "paint/interior protection". I agreed to $150 for all of that since originally I only wanted wheel locks. He showed me the sticker from the other dealer and it was $4000 above what I was paying! I have the sticker from my car, but it does not reflect the options that were added.

I called about 5 other dealers before I found the one with the best deal. I saw it posted on here before I started looking about the "document fees" so I asked each dealer what theirs were. A couple of them wanted $500 just to talk about it. Most just added the "market Adjustment".

I think if you have time and patience, you should be able to get a car for MSRP.

This is the quote is received from my dealer last week here in Michigan. I am hoping someone cancels out on a SSM soon that's the color I really want. Otherwise I will wait until spring to get mine.

The price on the 09 Honda Fit Sport auto with Navigation is $19,430.00 plus fees. The fees are a $180 doc. fee, 6% tax of $1176.60, title fee-$15 and a transfer of plate fee of $8 or a new plate fee. This brings the complete price to $20,809.60 with a transfer of plate fee. I don't have any 09 Fit's available in stock. If I order this trim level for you with navigation it will arrive in January. I have two Sport automatic's arriving in November in Tidewater Blue and Black if you want to consider one of these. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Yep, it seems the standard fee is $400 in Alabama too. I'll probably pay it.

Read the "OTD Prices for '09 Fits" thread. There are a number of us who have paid MSRP, a few who have paid a bit less for a '09 Sport Auto (and other variations). Myself, I emailed about 10 dealers. The excess charges for 8 ranged from $600 to $3,000. But I got responses from 2 who provided an MSRP bid, no options. We chose the closer dealer, but it was still about an hour away. Well worth it.

Oh yeah, no documentation fees.

Yes, that was $17,580 + $218 for 4 years of DMV (Oregon auto registration)
and 0 taxes (no sales tax in Oregon)

$400 processing fee?

Let me guess...Pohanka?

I'm dealing with the Pohanka dealership in Fredericksburg, just put down a deposit on a Tafetta White Fit Sport yesterday.

I'm going through the Costco auto buying program, and the price is $300 over invoice, which is $300 below MSRP.

I brought up my apprehension to paying a $400 processing fee yesterday (for the third time). In the past, the salesperson (great to work with) told me the dealership is pretty staunch on charging that. So I asked for $200 in accessories to be thrown in. She told me she was going to throw in the cargo tray anyway, and then went and spoke to the manager (so I was told) and came back with an offer of $180 less for the sale price of the car.

The point: You may have to pay that processing fee. This is a hot car, and people (like me) are waiting a month or more for the color & model they want. We don't have much to bargain with here. Try to get them to lower the price, or throw in accessories for you to make up the difference in the $400 processing fee, and a fee you determine is reasonable. FWIW, Consumer Reports says $100 is reasonable and acceptable, and to question anything over this.

Good luck!

Have you picked up the vehicle yet?
I tried Costco auto program in the past for an Acura but ended up getting a better deal without it.

On the pricing, I though the Invoice for 09 Fit Sport auto is $16,409
Did you got your for $16,510 plus fees and tax or?
