How many miles do people get driving mostly local? I was interning in Dallas and got about 35 mpg consistently driving mostly highway and light local. I moved back to campus in Austin and now I'm only getting about 250 miles per tank, which is a huge drop. The big changes in Austin are that I added 16' wheels and I'm driving mostly local.
Did the new wheels cause the huge drop? or is it the local? Thanks FFers.

250 miles? That suck, I was expecting more mpg on new the fits. I think you should go back to 16 inches wheels instead of 16 foot wheels to get good gas milage. That 16 foot wheels hurts your gas mileage a lot

Fit Mileage
Ok, I just bought a 2008 Fit Sport with 109K miles. Drove it almost 600 miles, 95% interstate, doing average about 75 mph, often over 80. Filled up completely at start of run, let the pump click off three times feeding it slow the last two. The gas light came on at 316 miles, that was 36.8 mpg when I filled her up. Regular gas, almost all 5th gear, across Georgia part of Alabama to the out Florida Panhandle. I was happy, considering the speed. Will be keeping up with mileage over time, something I do with everything I drive. The 1996 Chevy Silverado 5.7 that was traveling with me got 14 mpg over the exact same trip, we stayed together the entire run. The Fit is fun to drive! Woody
BTW, larger diameter tires makes the speedometer off, as you are actually covering longer distance per revolution. This can easily be 10% extra distance covered. I verified my speed and distance with GPS, the speedo was dead on.

13 sport manual
have a log book for everything done to the fit and pretty much every 11 days put 10 gallons in, give or take a little while going 400 miles, also give or take a very little
best tank was 429 miles
interstate speeds(70plus) i get worse mpg than my normal work commute which is mostly 45-55mph
i do absolutely nothing as far as hypermiling and tire psi is 35ish

I got an average of 50.5 once. My speed was 65mph over the trip though. The total distance before the low light was 445 miles. I usually only make it about 330-340 before the light comes on, so about 34mpg average. I like it, just wish the Fit had better insulation and noise suppression.
Still love it!
The mustang gets about 100 miles with a 14 gal tank... lol!

I'm lucky if I get 250 out of a tank with conservative driving, I used to get 350 or so with the same driving habits so I'm not sure what happened and I only have 24k on my car so unless there is some sort of mechanical issue I haven't noticed yet I have no reasonable explanation.

I bought Kuhmo Sense 185/60/R15 they weight 15.7 pounds per tire and i have the Mini Imola R81 rims ~12lbs each for a total of ~27.7 lbs per corner. it really makes a difference!
