Is the oil drain plug recessed?

If memory serves me correctly, yes. You can use the F106 or the F106N. The difference being that the F106N has the nipple attached while the F106 does not. But if you want to be sure, you might want to call their toll-free number (1-866-822-5689) and let them tell you which valve is correct. That is what I plan to do.

So for the above link, do we need to get one with the adapter or not for 09 fits? I'm looking at getting this one without the adapter, is this the correct one?
QuickOilDrainValve.com - the best way to change oil
Also does the oil drain the same speed with the nipple or without? I'll spend the extra $3 for the flexibility and option to use a tube later on.

For anyone interested, coupon code YM4 gets you 10% off the Fumoto valve:

The '09 Fit does not have a recessed drain plug port and therefore the adapter is not required. But you have the option of a nipple.

You don't need the adapter piece.... it just extends it out further which in some vehicles it is necessary to do extend it... but I did get the nipple for a hose.

Has anyone changed their oil in a GE yet with the Fumoto in place? I did an oil change today and put mine on (I have the no-nipple version). I'm skeptical that it's going to work as expected. As I recall from previous Fumoto's, they spit out a pretty good stream when opened up. There's a plastic shroud under the Fit that has clearance to get to the drain plug, but not a lot of extra clearance. I kinda think that the stream of oil may shoot out far enough that it is going to hit the plastic shroud. That would create an unholy mess worse than just using the drain bolt.
Hopefully someone will chime in before my next oil change so I know for sure. If not, I'll likely go ahead and order another Fumoto (with nipple this time) so I don't have to remove a bolt/plug for a third time to drain.

I've changed my oil twice already, the first time mounting the Fumoto valve upon completion, and the second time actually using the valve. I've always used the versions with the nipple, and it worked fine for me. The oil came out at perfectly manageable pace - no mess.
I've found if you want to slow the oil down to minimize potential messes, don't remove the oil cap or dipstick.
Good luck - hope all goes well.

just for curiosity sake, would this valve be useful as a way to make an oil return from a turbo, or would it just be too small...might be less hassle instead of having to drill the pan or whatnot...just a thought i had after it came in the mail

Get an oil filter sandwhich plate if you don't want to drill. Drilling is the best option though.
