Knob

I have a manual transmission and I’m looking to replace the shifting knob that came with the car. I want a knob with more weight but hopefully still covered with leather. When looking at all the premium shifting knobs out there they all seem to be bare metal. I really don’t like the thought of getting in the car when it is 20 below and shifting with a freezing knob. I have looked at Blox, J’s, Alex Eggo, Skunk2, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on heavy knobs covered in leather? Is there anyone out there with bare metal shifting knob who can comment on use in cold? I really want a knob with more weight…

Thanks!

I had a bare titanium shift knob on my Subaru. The issue for me wasn't so much the cold (it was uncomfortable, but not horrible). On a sunny summer day the knob would get hot enough to fry an egg. That was a lot more than uncomfortable!

Good point! I wonder why they go the bare metal route...

Bare metal = better feel = more confident, faster and more accurate shifts. Maybe those traits aren't so important in a Fit lol. Cold is more of an issue on the steering wheel IMO. You only touch the shifter for a second at a time, right? Or are you a rower, drive with one hand always resting on the shifter?

you can get a 04+ S2000 shift knob or 06+ Si shift knob or 04+ Accord V6 shiftknob...

They are a pretty decent weight... and have leather around them.

All of the knobs i mentioned look like this.

i dont think the metal ones get "that" hot. they do get hot but wont hurt you, its completely tolerable....may be if your windows arent tinted it will get hotter, never had an issue with mine even in 100º weather.

09 accessory list?

You might look at the list of accessories for the 09s.

There's a leather OEM knob that's quite nice. It's no heavier than the stock knob but it feels much nicer and does, in fact, reflect Honda quality.

Dress socks or tube socks? Actually, you could switch out depending on your mood. All kidding aside, I live in Michigan and I don't think the metal will be too cold once the car's warmed up. Jumping into a cold car sucks regardless of what type of shift knob you have. Simply put, I think it boils down to personal preference, as some prefer leather over metal, and vice versa. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the aftermarket shift knob that Honda offers for the '07 & '08 models works on the '09?

The threads are the same for all fits. The people at college hills actually checked for me and I've got the 09 accessory knob

installed on my 08. That pretty much proves that the threads are the same.

You might want to look for MOMO knobs.

My T1R knob was FREAKIN hot when I got in my car today and it was only in the 80's today. I could drive, but only touching the knob for as long as I needed to to shift through gears...

I agree with James on this one. I think it heats up based on the sun much more than the ambient temperature. I know the knob would get hot enought that I couldn't keep my hand on it for more than a second or two. Having the windows tinted would probably help this problem greatly. BTW James I don't think that fecal matter is a recommended transmission shift linkage lubricant .

Very nice! That is the kind of knob I'm looking for! I'm not sure how heavy Aluminum will be though or if it will fit the Fit...I will send them e-mail.

Thanks!

Thanks. While this knob looks and feels great (I checked it out at dealer) I'm interested in getting one that weighs more.

Anyone have any suggestion on AT knobs? I don't really like the look of the one from College Hills.
