09 Fit Sport Navi 0-60 in 8.3 secs.

New Motor Trend test on Fit:

2009 Honda Fit Sport - Quick Test - Motor Trend

I predicted 8.4 secs from Car and Driver, so I'm pleased with this faster time, and I told you all not to give much weight to Edmund's 10.2 time.

Yea i was expecting a faster time than edmunds. I mean the Yaris is around that ~10 second mark and it has only like 13 less hp or something.

I didn't think it would be possible, but it's turning out that I think I'm loving this car more each day.

They must have a 120 lbs man with tank almost empty for that kind of time.

Unlike Ray, they probably don't miss shifts.

MT has never been a paragon of accuracy. Like David E Davis' Automobile, MT has never trusted timer measurements if it didn't back what they wanted to say. That lead to the data and 'car of the year' frauds that many of you do not remember.
Wait til R&T and C&D publish their results before crowing. Here we matched an 08 Fit Sport and 09 Sport side by side accelerating from 30 mph and 40 mph and the 09 lost every time.

IIRC Motor Trend also put the GD3 in the 8 seconds as well.

To be quite honest though, worrying about which economy car can do 0-60 in the faster amount of time is rather silly. Even a 1 second difference after that long wait is barely perceivable to the average person.

this is impressive number indeed. vw rabbit 2.5 with MT does 8.5 for 0-60..
r18 civic with MT does 7.7 so, it's still slower than civic but probably one of the fastest econo box out there.

1 sec difference in 0-60 dash is like, 3~4 car length BTW.

No, that was Car and Driver. They did 8.7 with the GD3 manual. Motor Trends times are usually a little slower than C&D's. I had no doubt that the GE8 would be at least as quick as the GD3 - more power everywhere in the rev band, shorter gearing and only 44 lbs. heavier.

Right on.

I didn't buy the Fit for 0-60 times or for 1/4 miles. That's what my "other" car is for.

I bought the Fit because I needed a reliable car that could haul stuff around and be used/abused as a daily commuter (74 mile commute daily), and so far, I'm loving what the Fit can deliver on that end.

Quibbling about 0.1 or 0.5 seconds here or there seems completely pointless.
