09 Fit Sport Navi 0-60 in 8.3 secs.

Right on.
I didn't buy the Fit for 0-60 times or for 1/4 miles. That's what my "other" car is for.
I bought the Fit because I needed a reliable car that could haul stuff around and be used/abused as a daily commuter (74 mile commute daily), and so far, I'm loving what the Fit can deliver on that end.
Quibbling about 0.1 or 0.5 seconds here or there seems completely pointless.

im actually getting rid of my 'other car' for the fit. it costs me twice as much to fill up my Z than my wifes civic. that shit adds up.

It's pretty safe to say that no one buy fit for it's 0-60 obviously, but when fit is both reasonably quick and fuel efficient at the same time, what is to complain?
but i guess it's rather pointless for average JOE, hehe.

(yep, recognized your avatar and name from my350z.com) It is expensive to fill up the Z33, so I just reserve that car for track days or other similar activities. Daily-commuter-wise, it can't match the Fit. Your wife's Civic, though, should get pretty good mileage?

Do what I did: keep the Z AND the Fit.

no room in the budget for 3 new cars. i would if i could but to have two cars we can actually use would make life easier.

Lol, I know. My first car was a 91 Integra that did 60 in 8.6 also and for the time it was pretty quick. All my subsequent cars were much much faster. Coming from my last car, an 08 Accord Coupe 6MT does 60 in 5.6, which is really a low 5 second car because of the limited front drive grip, the Fit feels so slow, and that goes for any car that does 60 in over 7 secs. But it's all good. It's a different kind of car.

I'm nearing end of lease of my 05 TL 6MT and am considering a Fit Sport 5MT. I just test drove the auto version today. While slower in acceleration and lacking in stopping ability, I do find the Fit providing more feedback than the TL and actually more balanced than the TL. The fun to drive factor is also higher.

Having owned an Acura TL in 95 I can see why you know acceleration is much less but if you equip the Fit with hawk brakes and 205/45x16 tresyou will find you can outbrake a TL handily. On the other hand another 10 mpg is ample trade for the acceleration loss.
good luck.
PS the paddle shifting is so much fun you won't miss the manual.

Come on, people - there's no need for all the "who care's, it's a Fit" comments.
We're all car enthusiasts, or we wouldn't join a site like this, right? Well then accept that some people do care, at least a little bit, about how their Fit measures up against other cars. Or maybe they just want a little technical data to compare to their butt dyno.
There's a time and place to say such things, like when the inevitable thread pops up where someone starts asking about how to go about transplanting the drivetrain from an NSX to a Fit. (Actually, I'm sure somewhere, someone has already started THAT thread.)
I don't think a conversation about a Fit's 0-60 times is pointless. I think it's pointless to tell others you think it is.

I don't think the 0-60 time is gonna sway any potential buyers or opinions of the fit either way because no matter what the number is, it's gonna be slow. It is, however, nice to know what the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are.
I'm gonna try and do a run with the pocket dyno on my Iphone and see what I come up with.

Well I tried the Pocket Dyno for the first time this morning and managed a 9.29 0-60 time. I was coming off of the shoulder to the freeway so I didn't get the best start (not full throttle for part of 1st). This is with a Sport Auto with navi, full tank of gas and a baby seat and stoller in the back . I also just realized I forgot to turn off the VSA
I'm sure the manual is quicker off the line with it's shorter gearing. I'll try again later with the VSA off and a re-calibration.

The Fit is not the fastest car on the planet, but it will be a whole lot better than my old beater, a 93 civic with 215k miles that has to work like a horse just to get up to 50. Once it's there, it does fine between 50 and 75...
