Anyone figured out a way to drag songs from your iTunes library onto a thumb drive and have them play in the Fit? It told me unsupported format. I suppose I'd have to export them as Mp3, rather than drag them over as AAC.
I hate ruining my iPod touch's battery with all the frequent top off charges caused by using it for my commute. Before the Fit I always ran the iPod down until it was 10% and then recharged.

Lithium ion batteries don't care about shallow charge cycles. In fact, as I understand it you should not let your iPod always run down to 10% before recharging.
As far as iTunes songs go, yes the AAC songs you rip from CDs and the un-protected AAC that you buy from iTunes ("iTunes Plus") play just fine on a thumb drive. Only protected iTunes songs won't play on a thumb drive (the ones with .m4p extension).

I'm still thinking old school ni-cad, li-ion probably won't be harmed, but part of me wants to keep the iPod away from frequent plug ins anyways. So I went into iTunes, enabled the file type column from the view menu, and grabbed whatever I had that was AAC or Mpeg and tossed them on a thumb drive in folders named for each artist. Now out to the car to see if it works.
Then the thumb drive can live in the glove box.
Thanks again.
